It's a good brush, but unlike other self-cleaning brushes I've used, you push the button to extend the bristles instead of pushing a button to retract the bristles. The button has a locking mechanism like a clicky ballpoint pen, so keeping the bristles extended isn't a problem, but if your dog has a lot of fur (especially if it is long or thick), relying on the spring to retract the bristles doesn't always work so well, and you have to start pulling fur off of the brush yourself if you don't want to wait like 10 seconds for the spring to slowly pull the bristles back through the clump of fur by itself; whereas with other brushes, you just have to push the button a little harder to push off a thick clump of fur.

This brush works great for my Akita. I am a little concerned about the button you have to press down, it is not the most durable design.

Really nice construction. Only issue is that metal bristles are a bit rough and my dogs don't liked it. Might be best for dogs with longer hair.

Works as describe but my pup wouldn't have any of it! His hair is thin and I think the little "bristles" may have hurt him.

My pup hates the way it feels when I brush her. However this brush works well especially for double coated/ long haired dogs.

We were dogsitting for our friends' husky, in Texas Hill Country, where it seems like burrs are on every plant around. Every time the dogs would go outside to play, the husky would come back completely covered in burrs, often deep in his fur. This brush picked them up very easily. But the problem would have been - how to get them out of the brush now? Not a problem when the bristles retract and leave a tidy little mat of shed hair and burrs. I am extremely pleased with how well this worked.

Good concept to retract in, it really is easy to clean. But does nothing to help my dogs shedding problem. I'm going to have to buy a furminator

I have had other brushes with this design and I thought they were great, except the handle of the other brushes kept slipping off. I tapped the handle on and eventually it broke off. This brush has all the great design features and the handle works perfectly. The handle does not slide, does not break. This is really a great brush. I love the self cleaning. I have a golden retriever who sheds a lot and can be hard on brushes, this one holds up. So far this is the best slicker brush ever!
