Excellent book, well written and very informative. As for accuracy? it's probably pretty accurate all things considered, some of the people are dead and some don't want to talk. A good companion to books by Timothy Leary,Tom Wolfe,Rhoney Gissen Stanley and other writers. In England in the sixties a lot of these events didn't get news coverage until they were actually over, if at all. Buy it,read it, dig it.If you don't like it give away and give someone else a chanceto.

A really well researched and written insight into the Californian sub-culture of the 60's and 70's. I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in this period. There certainly are some interesting characters and escapades described in these 300 or so pages.

What a fantastic book, if you are interested in the brotherhood and Leary, this tells the whole tale. It also gives more info on the man that started it all, "Farmer" John Griggs. A+

kept the wife quiet

The author takes a truly extraordinary story and wrings the life out of it with his dull reportage. I have to say I didn't finish the book, I don't imagine many other people will either.

Was eagerly anticipating the arrival and read it in only a couple of days.Starts off quite well but somewhat looses it after some time.All of a sudden it's all over the place and doesn't seem to follow a coherent idea.Also the thing that bothers me the most is the number of mistakes in information that seem to arise from a certain level of ignorance about spiritual teachers,Yoga philosophy and other countries.Only shows that this is the work of a journalist and his investigation was mildly put sometimes a bit sloppy.Makes you wonder what else may not be quite rightly portrayed here.With these kind of subjects you get a lot of questionable information.Some characters tell the story with them as the hero while a number of other important participants get at best only a side note.Therefore the story is probably somewhat distorted and should more be taken as an entertaining anecdote than an accurate document of these events.Although it is interesting to see the subject finally being treated in such a form and appear in a book, the question that remains is still if it is not only to satisfy the curiosity of people who never understood what was going on then and are still wondering what to make of the after effects that last to this day and influence modern society.
