Ms. Oredein's Honest and candid writing is wonderfully refreshing . There is no sugar coating around the story of her relationship, its raw and real and wonderfully truthful. As a Hispanic woman , dating outside of our culture is a step that is nerve wracking due to the fact that culturally we are so passionate and stubborn. Finding someone to relate to , that can understand where you are coming from is rare , in authors and in their work. I loved this book for its simplicity and I shared my copy with a friend. Who is now entranced by the rollercoaster love story of not only Ms. Oredein but of many women written in those pages. To women we don't see muslim , black or white we see the man we love . Its unfortunate that in todays society it can't be as simple as that.

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?
Well written account of a relationship between a young, naive black woman and a young, self-centered, muslim man. This relationship took place during their college years and is told from the viewpoint of the woman. She was deeply committed. He was not. The book could have been rated 5-stars but for the fact that I could not believe this girl was so blind to his duplicity for so long. But then again I am a guy and older than either of the protagonists and, okay, more than a bit cynical.

Emotional Roller-Coaster!!!
Love the title, writing style and format. A quick easy unbelievable 2-hour fix. I feel like I was a part of the year long emotional roller coaster following you with each turning page. This is a very relatable book. You can draw parallels with your own experiences that highlights the contradictory nature of humans in this journey called LIFE and the perceived labels we carry around. There is definitely an element of hypocrisy in all of us but the way we choose to execute speaks to our integrity, maturity, and morals. Looking forward to more quick easy reads for my short attention span:-)

Excellent book club or reading group book!
The title of this work is well chosen. The author presents a series of poems that follow her one-sided love through a year-long relationship, starting with their first date and following his infidelity, double standards, and lack of sensitivity, but ending with a very positive message. Although this is written from a woman's perspective and I am male I could easily relate to her situation having been there myself at times, as I believe most of us on this earth have. This is a great book for a book club or reading group (and it is an easy read and short book)!

Great Book!
I really liked this collection of poems that chronicle a relationship in all of its stages. From it's promising beginnings , seeing issues and conflicts ahead middle to it's saddened but coming out a survivor end. It really showed no matter how much a person may try to change you with their thoughts and ideas that you must always be true to yourself. You also need to be looking and seeing if the person you are investing time and love in is practicing what he preaches or just paying it lip service!

Great.
Raw and powerful poetry. The author displays her bare heart as we witness her pursue with courage not all possess. It truly offers the reader a glimpse into a woman's heart, the surmountable joys felt by sentiments requited and the stabbing grief then dealt by betrayal. This was an excellent read. Warm, vibrant, and real just as the author herself. I had the pleasure of meeting her in NYC during a fashion event. Keep that beautiful head high and your heels higher Ms. Oredein :)

Unique Introspection
In her book, "His Ph.D. is in Hypocrisy" Tayo Oredein uses a unique narrative device to chronologically tell the story of young love; the euphoria, hurt, glee, confusion and hope that most of us go through during that first true love experience. Tayo uses a combination of biting humor and heart felt honesty to convey her story. It's a easy to read page turner that I'm sure many will be able to relate to.

" "This book is the first I took the time read and I love every bit of it
"I'm usually so caught up reading technical books for my career that I miss out on reading books for entertainment." "This book is the first I took the time read and I love every bit of it, because it shows how as men we sometimes tend to take great women for granted." "I really connected with author and have so much more respect for how amazing she is."
