A Wonderful Attila Conclusion!
Read this book in 2008, and its the 3rd and final volume of the "Attila" trilogy. This book is set as from the year AD 449 until AD 476, right until the end of Attila's life.Attila having set his sights on Ravenna and Rome, will meet and encounter on the battlefield his once friend and now enemy, General Aetius of Rome. From the East right into France, Attila will storm through these territories as they never existed with fire and sword, and bringing death and destruction everywhere.A massive "judgement" will be the invasion of Italy, and subsequently the sacking of Ravenna and Rome, and this decision is the heaviest that he has to make.In a superbly told historical adventure this final judgement and decision will be eventually played out within his silken tent, where Attila will finally face his ultimate destiny.Highly recommended, for this is a tremendous ending to this amazing trilogy, and that's why I like to call this episode: "A Wonderful Attila Conclusion"!

Absolutely Stunning
I must say that this is so far the best book I have ever read, and believe me I've read alot of historical fiction. The first two books in the sequel I found at times to be trying and I felt I had to find patience before I found the magic that Napier is capable of which came in waves and trickles. Yet for the third in the sequel, it was as if his style had finally perfected and he became frenzied with the knack of balancing intrigue, character development, intensity, profundity, melancholy historically factual truths and the whole ideology around the 'spirit of the times' but on top of all of this, I felt as if I was reading the script of a future epic, bigger even than Lord of the Rings, I was that encapsulated (from start to finish). It has now awakened a deep interest for me in the whole time around Attila the Hun, Scourge of God and Flavious Aetius, last bastion of the Roman Empire and I found the interplay of emotions between two sworn enemies who were once friends brilliant, and the dwindling fortunes of the Roman Empire well documented. The battles were heart stopping, the mood downcast yet not beaten and there was a touch of hilarity between characters and their actions mixed with the appalling reality of the lengths Attila took to instill horror into the Roman enemy. An absolute legendary book which deserves to be the basis of a film

Not what it says on the tin
I have read the trilogy which on the whole is very good but i find the last book a bit of a let down! Unlike the first two books in the series this book it is all about the roman side of the story and touchs very little on as the tittle sugests ATTILA and his view of things. There are many many many many books of roman stories i could have read but as i wanted a change i find the third and final installment a big let down in that department.

Attila The Judgement
This, the third in the Attila trilogy, is very like the first 2 books in that there is a lot of action and an excellent story line but many whimsical flights of fancy. Unfortunately, I did not find these added in any way to the story and I got to the point, as I did with the other 2 books, of skimming over them.A good read overall however.

Culmination of a great trilogy
If you read just one series of books on the rise of the Hun nation under Attila, the decline of the Roman empire and warfare in the fifth century AD then this IS the one!Based on a fair amount of fact, but with some believable fiction thrown in to keep the reader engaged and with a true 'all action hero' thrown in for good measure in the guise of Roman Master-General Aetius, I read the entire trilogy in under a week and will probably read them again within the year ....Highly recommended.
