Easiest to wear padded short for skating.
This short must be the easiest to wear and remove.Wearing the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is of utmost importance when rollerblading, this padded short has zippers along the thigh that allows you to wear on top of your pants without having to remove your skates, knee pads, shin pads, shoes or boots. On top of that, the padding is really good without being overly aggressive looking, better said, kids are not ashamed of wearing it and most definitely feel grateful when they land on the pavement, and they do not feel excruciating pain.Material is very elastic and adapts well to your silhouette, stays in place when skating and can resist a few falls without breaking or pulling fabric.XS size fits great girls from 5 years through 8, small frame.I'll be ordering a second pair of shorts to be all protected.Very well recommended. For those who wonder if this short can be worn inside pants. You may but will be too bulky.

protective gear for ice skaters
As my kiddo is getting more advanced in freestyle ice skating, lots of jumping and spinning practices are needed. This protective gear is very helpful. It reduces the impact on the rear and hip if accidental falls occur. It is very easy to put on and take off because of the zipper closure on both sides. The material used to make the shorts is breathable and flexible, so it is comfortable to wear on ice. My kid wears it when practicing on ice. I would recommend this product for ice skating learners.

Good protection for my granddaughter learing to skate
My 6 yr old granddaughter is learning to use inline skates. She's doing real well, and has knee, elbow, and wrist pads. She was skating on a large cement pad area and fell backwards. She came in saying she has pads for everything but her butt. I found these for her. They are a little bulky, but do privide great padding. We followed the instructions, measuring here waist and went with the Medium. It does fit. Seems true to size. She's doing better and better skating. I was waiting for a report when she fell back again, but that hasn't happened yet. But she's ready when it happens.

Fit is way off; no real protection
I ordered a children's XL based on the reviews that said these shorts run very large. They fit a little big on me, a 5'6 135lb female. I guess they cover the buttocks and tailbone with padding, but there is no padding whatsoever on the hip bones or on the sides of the shorts. The padding that does exist on the shorts is pretty thin. I don't see these being very useful for what I wanted to use them for, which is skateboarding at the skate park. It would be more hassle than it's worth to wear these just for a negligible amount of padding on my butt and tailbone.

Works about as expected...
I'm not going to lie, I am not the traditional market for these because I'm not a kid but I got these as an experiment. I am an early 30s, 6 ft 240 lbs man, and I got the Large size. I got these because I go running outdoors in a winter climate, and with winter comes ice. And I thought these might be a nicer undergarment to have in case I take a tumble on my backside, which has happened before... and hurts at my age!Sizing/fit: You're probably thinking there is no way a children's large fit me, honestly I was expecting that to be the case myself eyeballing it. It was a tight fit, but it worked. I'm not going to gripe about this because I know that this is specifically for kids, and I'm not a kid. Hey, I'm just glad it actually fit! The wonders of Spandex.Looks: I'm going to be using this as an undergarment so I'm not too concerned with looks, but it looks like the picture. The padding is on the back/butt, there are two zippers on the front to take them off easily I guess (I won't be trying those at my size).Pads/Features: The pads are of okay size, about what I expected. For a kid for most sports, they are probably adequate, and I'm hoping they'll be adequate enough for me. There is no zipper fly in front, but this is a unisex so I suppose that's not too surprising. As stated before, the pads seem to protect the butt/tailbone area fine, but there are no pads in front.Washing: The tag stays this can be machine washed which is good, but this contradicts the description on the product page. The only thing that concerns me is removing the pads - they are stitched in pretty well. There is a small hole in the center on each pad, and this is spandex so maybe you can take the pads out that way? I am not sure, but I'd imagine that wouldn't be particularly easy given the size of the holes.Overall, I have not tested these yet and I am not the target demographic for these so I do not know how long they'll last me, nor will I blame anyone if they don't last me too long. But so far I am just glad they fit me, and they seem to be as described. My only concerns if I was getting this for a child would be lack of front/thigh protection depending on the sport they're playing (though this should be no surprise reading the description), and getting these washed. Otherwise, if these can fit me that's a great sign, and so far I think that these are solid.
