Cheaply designed on the outside.. pretty sweet on the inside - NO SUPPORT
I work in the professional film industry with lots of high quality and very expensive equipment (Film, RED, ALEXA etc). For my own personal low-budget projects I have recently been using the Nikon D800 in a Run & Gun style for small projects and documentaries. This EVF is extremely useful for focusing and getting spot on exposure with a camera that has limited dynamic range and relatively lousy lenses (for motion picture anyway - great for stills).I am happy with the price.I am extremely disappointed with the engineering as far as the strength of the body especially the 1/4-20 female jacks. It is like an afterthought. Attached to the body with very tiny screws (look at the picture carefully). If you tighten an Israeli arm or ball-head with just a little too much force those screws with shear right off. Secondly the battery plates are weak plastic and the Sony batteries I have been using are loose on the plate, I have to tape it up or use small bungees to keep it tight. Finally Cineroid customer service is NON-EXISTENT. I have been trying for months, I cannot find the battery plates anywhere and they have basically told me good luck (chum).Well Good luck to you folks out there. The product has amazing potential and I like it very much except for those annoying issues.UPDATE: This is an old review I posted for another website. Everything above remains the same, except I have moved on to Sony mirrorless for my video needs. But I want to emphasize that ***CINEROID SUPPORT DOES NOT EXIST***

Awesome monitor, could be improved
It does everything I need it to, the display is excellent, and the features are amazing. I must say it's hard to justify the price tag though - one could get a 60" HDTV with better resolution for less. You're paying for the SDI input and it's hard to not feel robbed. Two things - the focus peaking function is basically useless - it shows thick red lines that aren't really helpful for critical focus, also, I REALLY wish it had HDMI OUT! I bought it for the Blackmagic Cinema Camera since it uses SDI cables, HDMI would help a lot in that I could output the picture to a regular monitor.

Top of the line for this size EVF
Does everything you need it to do, IMO is better than the Alphatron. The software and interface in particular. The Alphatron has a lousy OSD and is a larger, heavier unit. The Cineroid is a little delicate like people say, but if you don't throw it around it's going to last awhile.
