Very nice indeed
2014 update. This mattress has proved awesome. I LOVE IT and still as good as the day I bought it in 2012.Excellent service with Viceroy as it arrived quickly in a vacuum packed bag. Quite heavy and I am amazed a whole mattress can be compressed so much and still come to life like new afterwards. A few hours left outside and a day in a well aired room should see the smell go. I suspect it is quite toxic so don't be tempted to shortcut the airing time. Which should ideally be as above.Foam used to be dirt cheap a couple of decades ago. Until they introduced the fire safety laws, then they quadrupled in price, I guess due to the process. Not sure memory foam is all it's cracked up to be, but as this mattress only comes with 3cm (NOT INCHES) I am not fit to comment. The one inch sliver of memory foam is glued the top of the mattress, not too well at that, so I'm not sure if that will cause problems a few months down the line once you have been wriggling around on it. The removable cover is quite nice, if a little tight, and VERY necessary on foam.Nice solid item and I would say very firm, but very comfortable. Sits nicely on the bed and doesn't move around like springs. It's worth noting the only good thing about slatted beds is its cheaper to manufacture. They are no good for sleeping on and NO mattress will survive long despite the false claims of many mattress companies. If you have a slatted bed, get down to your local B&Q, or whoever sells and cuts MDF, and get them to cut an exact 1/2in or 3/4in match for your bed to slot in above your slats (leave slats in place) When you measure do it very slightly under rather than over, because you want it to slot between the bed sides and not on top of them or it will move around. This will then give you a rock solid base for your new mattress and there is no reason it should not last forever in foam, unlike the rubbish sprung mattresses of the last two decades which we seem lucky to get 2 or 3 years out of!I have an additional antibac mattress cover over mine, and a sheet. So far I have had no problems with overheating, in fact its a trifle cool if anything. You can definitely feel the memory foam hugging you and I would say I wriggle a lot less. Moving around is no problem for me either, you don't get stuck. I am 6ft2in and weigh 96kg.It comes in at just under the stated size of 8inches overall, but really not a problem as it is *normal* mattress size once fully inflated/aired.Just to clear up on some of the previous reviews here: IF the item is faulty in any way you DO NOT have to pay for return P&P that is up to the seller to sort out EVEN IF THE ITEM HAS BEEN UNWRAPPED.Only downside really is it came with no advice/instructions for the vital airing process. Delivery was very quick. All in all I'm well chuffed and would NEVER EVER go back to the rubbish sprung mattresses of today, certainly anything up to £400. You'd have to be a bit silly to pay more but I am sure the quality improves I guess.(WIKI) HazardsWhen new, some memory foams give off a distinct chemical odor, which many people find unpleasant and some say is akin to the smell of paint. This odor decreases with airing, but some remain sensitive. Emissions from memory foam mattresses may cause more respiratory irritation than other mattresses; however mildew and house dust mites may not occur as frequently, so asthma attacks may be less frequent and severe. [5]Memory foam, like other polyurethane products, can be combustible.[6] State and US Federal Laws have been enacted in the USA to require that all bedding, including memory foam items, be resistant to ignition from an open flame such as a candle or cigarette lighter. New bedding laws that went into effect in 2010 change the Cal-117 Bulletin for FR testing.[7] There is concern that high levels of the fire retardant PBDE, commonly used in memory foam, could cause health problems for users. [8] PBDEs are no longer used in most bedding foams, especially in the European Union.Manufacturers caution about leaving babies and small children unattended on a memory foam mattress, as they may find it more difficult to turn and rotate and may suffocate.

Buy cheap, buy twice!
The mattress arrived quickly, no problems there. I unpacked it and it did smell bit that faded quickly as I left it to air in the spare bedroom. First impressions were really good, it was very comfortable, a great help for my back. But here's the thing, you get what you pay for, I'm writing this two and a half years down the line and I'm searching for a new mattress. It's far too soft now and rather than helping my back it's making it worse. I struggle getting to sleep at night, struggling to get comfortable and I wake up with back ache. I've had it two and a half years, but that doesn't tell the full story, I currently a residential student, as I was most of last year. I'm away from home for three ten week terms plus a five week placement and three weeks of working at a camping event. So though I've had it two and a half years it's probably only been used for a year and a half at most. (Just to make things clear the heaviest I've been recently is 9st10lb @ 5ft 9inches)Because it's memory foam you can't turn it over so you can't gain extra mileage out of it that way, though I did try turning it `head to toe' with a small amount of success. Conclusion: If you desperately want a memory foam mattress to put on your very rarely used spare bed then this would probably suit you, or if you need a mattress to see you through the next six months then go ahead. Anything else keep saving and look somewhere else. Buy cheap, buy twice!

Very firm!!
Be Warned, this is a firm mattress!! I would rate it much higher than a 6/10 and feels more like lying on industrial strength foam with a softer top - there is very little give in it. The company were, however, good for offering advice on how to 'soften' it..I.e. put it on the floor and walk backwards and forwards over it and heat it with a hairdrier! It worked to a small degree and my 8 year old son is happy enough with it, though I do not think it is as good for a child, as they do not have any weight or much body heat to mould into the memory foam. The cover is very soft, but given you cover this anyway it doesn't really matter. My other son has a normal mattress and a memory foam topper on it, and this was not only a cheaper option, but a lot more comfortable.

Brilliant
The chemical smell is extremely strong and lasts a fair while (weeks for me), so if you're able I'd air this out for as long as possible. Otherwise I've no complaints - I bought this after my first memory foam mattress purchase turned out to be far too firm for me, and was pleased to find that this mattress was not overly firm. Not as soft as my very old viceroy bedding mattress (years old), but more than reasonable. Months later it is really comfortable and just as supportive as when it arrived.

Great Value and Comfortable
Have had this mattress for a week. So far have been very pleased with it and have found it to be very comfortable and good value. I had bought a non-memory mattress from a major retailer last year, paid twice as much for something that does not seem to be superior in any way. Regarding the smell, it will go ease over time and I suspect that this is common with foam mattresses as I had the same problem with the last one I bought (lasted a month). I suggest that you be ready to keep your bedroom windows open for a while, but I would rather this than a cheap spring mattress and would buy another should the need arise. The mattress will arrive vacuum packed, open it as soon as you can as it will take a bit of time to expand (notes suggested waiting 24 hrs, though I used the same night with no problems) and to start airing it.
