Big Berkey Water Filter with 2 x 9" Ceramic Filters

This system arrived well packaged. First off, I had not anticipated how visually imposing this system looks in my kitchen. If I were ordering again, I would get the Travel Berkey instead of Big Berkey. I had read about leaks in other reviews, so when mine leaked I knew to re-tighten the spout. That worked. I did the initial preparation steps. When filtering water, after 4 hours filtering there was still not enough in lower chamber to come out when spout was open. This is VERY slow to filter. The spout is a bit slow also. Sometimes it trickles, sometimes comes out a bit better. It may have to do with how much water is in the lower chamber. If I truly had a water problem, I would keep it. It would be nice to have purer water, but I the imposing look, and slow filtering and slow flow from spout have made it unsuitable for me. I returned mine after 2 days. If I get another, it would be the Travel Berkey. Return was simple except instructions that said to attach "required commercial invoice". I searched for info online and then just asked at UPS. They told me that the invoice is just for international orders.

The Berkey water filter is high quality. It filters out most contaminants. Their website will give you all the technical info. It is an on counter filter and you do need to fill it up as you take filtered water out. Knowing this, my husband and I keep it up and running. The water tastes so much better but I am most happy knowing that I am not ingesting harmful chemicals.

The Big Berkey arrived only an half hour ago and it is now sitting on my kitchen counter filtering the first batch of "waste" water. After the first batch is discarded you then can use your filtered water.This is a fairly solid water system in that it is stainless steel. The tap is really just an inferior piece of plastic that does not look like it will stand up to constant use. We shall see.Overall, it was easy to clean and assemble. As to the quality of the water, that, too, is still to be seen.....or tasted.July 1stSo far we are pleased with the quality of the Berkey System and the taste of the filtered water. It no longer has that strong bleach smell that we have unhappily grown accustomed to, and, knowing that we are not drinking klonopin, prozac and welbutrin makes us ecstatic ( along with all the other sordid toxins in the water ). I recommend this water filter for the very tough times ahead. It will become a necessity rather than a luxury.

I have not seen one of these and was very happy when it arrived. Easy to assemble and we had water within a couple of hours and lots of water since then. Simple design. The water tasted great and we could tell the difference right away when compared to tap water. We did not test it on other sources of water, but could tell from the design that there should be not problems I would recommend the 7.5 Tru-View water level Spigot and the stand.

It works great for all our drinking water. We have municipal water which is not bad to start with, but the deposits this takes out, is pretty impressive. The water taste is awesome. We have had this for 18 months and cleaned the filters 3 times with soap and water to restore flow.

Wow, I wish I had bought one years ago... Anytime I go on vacation and the water is through a basic filter, I start to feel quite a bit different (and it's not good!). That's how I know the Berkey filter has improved my quality of life... Clean water is a must have in any home, and this is as pure as you can get!Buy it today, for your family's sake!!

super love it , the water has such a clean fresh taste, I done research on water filters and this one came out on top. takingit with me to asia for the next 6 months , pretty much now wont drink water unles it filterd by big berkly * I hv the small one to for when I travel on moto bike

Had it for a week. So far so good. Works like a charm. I replaced the spigot with the stainless steel one. No leaks and tooless installation. Water is coming out clean.

One of the best water filtration sytems - afordabel because filters last very long.The taste of water is great too, takes out chlorine too

Does what it claims to do. One of the filters was broken upon arrival, but received a new one promptly. Good service!!
