I don’t often use writing paper any longer. Most correspondence is by email but I’ve recently started writing to a couple of rediscovered friends who don’t use email. I prefer fountain pen for writing and the paper I have for my printer is absorbent. Although it looks good quality, it’s not good for manual writing with ink. I bought a pad of Basildon Bond and was disappointed with the quality. It seemed quite cheap. Three Candlesticks paper really hits the spot. It has the look and feel of the old fashioned watermarked paper that independent stationers used to stock. It’s thick and the pen really writes smoothly with no absorption. It’s a pleasure to write on and worth the cost. The matching envelopes really finish it off. Very pleased with this purchase.

Nice texture and good quality. Sending someone a letter written on this paper really is a nice touch. I also find that this paper takes a wax seal really well without it damaging the paper.

Quality paper surprising how many people like to re eive a letter rather than an email

If you writing a serious letter or you want to make someone feel special, simply by your choice of stationery, these are your envelopes. They look and feel luxurious - you'll wonder why you ever bought cheap envelopes . Nowadays, finding a specialist stationer often means a journey and that isn't always practical (I'm a wheelchair-user with a side order of other health issues). Buy these - they're an affordable luxury.

I read previous reviews which persuaded my to buy. I only went to write my first letter after the return deadline, and found the spine of the pad had creases from the delivery and all the pages are creased in a number of places at the top.

This is excellent paper, fountain pen friendly. But I don't think the first sheet is meant to be used. Maybe it's a cover sheet. I tried it and it bled through and feathered so badly, I was ready to give up on it. I've used up several pads of Three Candlesticks without any problem or complaint. So, I ordered more. But for that sheet, though, this is good stuff.

This is a perfect writing paper in every regard. The colour is natural white, which shows the properties of the ink very well. The surface is very smooth to write on, with no bleeding or show-through. The paper has a crisp feel to it that makes it nice to handle. In summary, it's a fine paper to write on and a fine paper to receive. It stands out among other laid writing papers.

I was using a medium nibbed fountain pen and had a little feathering on the paper. That was the only instance where the paper did not perform flawlessly. Overall great product.
