Carbide Tipped Woodturning Chisel (Bull Nose Bowl Buster) (UK Tools)

After a minor issue was rapidly fixed by very helpful customer support I started to use my first carbide tool. And what a total joy it is to use this well made and sturdy tool. After a very short learning curve I was deep hollowing in the hardest ancient oak and leaving a very smooth surface. Very highly recommended!

This is a good wood turning tool, although it takes a bit of getting to used to, finding the right angle to present to the turning object and the distance you need to set the rest. Different cutting tasks require a different presentation and get it wrong will result in some chatter or judder. However, I found no problem with using the tool and got used to it after a minute or two with no problem or slipping as some reviewers have found. It id sharp and cuts easily inside and outside. My only complaint is that it does not come with an Allen key allowing you to remove the cutting head for sharpening, but I guess I've got plenty of Allen keys, so one is bound to fit. Even so, it would have been a nice touch and Sorby always provide one for their different, but similar tools. Nevertheless, I can recommend this woodturning chisel as a high quality cutting tool.

The chisel arrived very quickly and was well packed. It appears and feels robust and very well made. This is my first venture into carbide tipped tools and I was impressed with my first attempt. The tool is well balanced and cuts easily.Good value for money.

I purchased direct from David Lloyd. The finishing of the steel shaft end holding the carbide bit is very poor (as you can see on the photo’s) & I’m a bit concerned that it might not give enough support for the carbide tip. I also purchased a square chisel at the same time and again the finishing was poor. Really don't understand the 5 star reviews based on my purchase.

A well made tool for the money. However I would like to buy replacement 20mm diameter circular tips for this which is proving difficult. Nice if the manufacturer could provide a link / details for replacing the cutter discs.

The wrapping wasn't promising, there was even an apology! But it arrived ahead of time. This isn't like other turving tools I've used so a bit of practice and I'm going to search YouTube etc for some guidance.However, so far I'm delighted and am considering purchasing the set?

Ich habe mir dieses Werkzeug als Ergänzung zu meine Traditionellen Werkzeuge gekauft.Ich benötigte nur wenige Minuten um mich damit an zu freunden und gute Ergebnisse zu erzielen.Es kam sehr gut verpackt und schnell bei mir an. Die Schneide wirkt hochwertig und, es ist sehr scharf. Das Rundmaterial an dem die Schneide befestigt ist hat ein Durchmesser von 15 mm und ist sehr stabil. Alles in allem ist das Werkzeug recht schwer und liegt sehr gut in der Hand.Das Werkzeug ist gut geeignet für Innen- und Außenarbeiten. Es nimmt recht viel Material weg und hinterlässt eine gute Oberfläche. Es ist durchaus vergleichbar mit einer Schalenröhre aber, einfacher in der Anwendung.Von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung für jene, die keine Schalenröhre besitzen oder diese nicht ausreichend beherrschen.

Ich hab das Drechselwerkzeug als Weihnachtsgeschenk für meinen Mann bestellt, der die Drechselbank von meinem Opa übernommen hat und ein gutes, scharfes Ausdrehwerkzeug für Becher und Schalen suchte. Wie's scheint, war das das richtige.

Overall a very great tool. You can tell that it is handmade with some marks of that sort. But since this is a tool, doesnt matter. Works great for carving out bowls and rounded inner corners
