Good Quality, Amazing price
Kutt Santoku 7 inch Professional Chef Knife is simply an amazing value. Several reviewers disliked the lack of protective finish on the handle. I prefer the unfinished handle because I feel the natural walnut wood texture gives a better grip. Since I never leave any knife in water, I do not need a finish to protect the wood. The rear edge of the handle ends in a flat edge which I found uncomfortable. I rounded that edge with sandpaper. The included honing steel does a good job of maintaining the sharp edge. This has become my favorite daily use kitchen knife. Since it arrived in nice packaging suitable for a gift, I have already purchased a second set for a friend.

Great Knife... Kuts Like a Wustof
We love this knife. My wife uses it daily. It cuts just as good as our Wustof out of the box. I highly recommend this knife. The packaging and fit and finish of the knife blade is great. Would like more out of the handle however. The handle is light and unpolished. The knife would be better if it had a finely polished handle with more sheen/shine. I plan on buying these knives as gifts for my clients as a promotional marketing tool. And It is priced just right to do so.

Decent knife for work or home
I’m used to using smaller Santoku blades but really enjoy this knife. I have used several higher end knives over the years but ordered this to add a larger Santoku to my knife roll. It was inexpensive and came with a honing steel which I also wanted to pick up so I figured why not go with this set. Reviews were fairly high and I watched a very in depth demonstration of this knife on YouTube. The walnut handle seems to be treated in some way but not sealed so don’t let this knife soak. The trick is to be clean enough with your cutting surface to prevent anything from getting on the handle. When cleaning wipe the handle with a sanitizer towel or washcloth rather than submerging in water. Treat it right and hone after each use if you can remember to. Most review said the blade comes razor sharp but after working in kitchens for a decade I’ll say mine came about a 6.5/10 as far as sharpness but a quick honing right out of the box brought it up to probably a 7.5 Which works just fine for me. Performs well is well balanced. The appearance matches that of a higher end knife and looks nice alongside my higher end knives. I like it for work but it will probably become an at home only blade when I eventually upgrade to a similar Santoku to match the rest of the Shun Kanso set I’ve been slowly building.

So light and versatile.
Beautifully packaged and I love that it comes with a high quality sharpener. When I first opened the box and lifted out the knife, it seemed a bit light compared to my others. Today, it's my go-to favorite knife for just about everything. Stays sharper longer too. So happy with this purchase.

Great knife!!
This is the best knife I have ever used and I'm 70 years old. This is one of the best kitchen investments I've ever purchased. Highly recommend. I've only had a couple days so time will tell. But for now 5 stars all the way around.

Beautiful, awesome
Upon first opening, knife and steel made for an impressive presentation. Out of the box, knife was razor sharp. Also, a very good looking tool that feels good in your hand.

Big disappointment compared to the Kutt 8" chef knife
I'm really surprised at the high ratings and that only one person made a comment regarding the handle. I bought the Kutt 8" chef's knife and loved it...it works great, has good balance and feel in my hand. And it looks great. Based on that experience I bought the Kutt santoku knife. The big problem I have with the santoku and reason for my low rating is that the handle is just unfinished wood. The product description states that the wood is walnut, and it probably is, but there is no varnish or any other finish to protect the wood!As soon I got the knife (Sept. 2018) I was excited to use it. I washed it and as I was drying the blade I noticed water being absorbed into the handle! Seriously? That cannot be a good thing! If the handle absorbs moisture that quickly, then what's going to happen as I use the knife? Any perspiration, food moisture, bacteria, or whatever will end up being absorbed by the handle over time!Anyway....as soon as I noticed this problem, I finished drying the knife and put it back in the box. I contacted Kutt to voice my concern. The person I spoke with thanked me for my comments and asked me to send a followup email with a written description, and told me he would be back in touch. Well...that was several months ago and I never heard back from them. A few weeks after that phone call I tried to write a review warning other potential buyers about this issue, but for some reason the amazon site would not allow a review to be posted for this knife. I tried several more times to post a review, and couldn't, so I gave up. I'm glad that reviews can now be posted for this product!I still feel this is a bad purchase UNLESS the manufacturer corrects the problem with the handle. As to what I finally did...I bought some minwax wood stain and polyurethane finish (which cost as much as the knife did) and upgraded the santoku knife. I think it looks better (I know that's just personal taste, but it matches the chef's knife) but more importantly, I can now use the knife and not worry about the handle absorbing moisture.
