Well written escapism
It is a crisply written book about a New York family's generational wealth and sense of entitlement. The Stockton family's three privileged adult children, two spouses with their own problems, and horrendously out-of-touch parents make for highly entertaining summer reading. You find yourself begrudgingly liking them as they struggle to make sense of a world changing its attitude towards money.Jackson has given us a book with well-defined characters who never become caricatures, clean dialogue sprinkled with humour and storylines that bring a sense of humanness to those who have and those who don't.While Pineapple Street isn't a book that will go into my collection, I will pass it on to a friend with a sincere "Enjoy!". And if Jenny Jackson has another book in the works, I want to read it.

Shallow
It could have been a great book.. but the author keeps it light and shallow

american upper class
its the novel about the rich American family. Author has keen observational eye . the four female characters are rounded and well developed. characters are vivid and relatable. the story makes reader invest in the lives of the characters. There is attention to details that bring settings to life. the vivid picture allows readers to immerse in the story's environment. the book is quite engaging.

For the beach.. maybe
I was excited for this book after reading the reviews. However I was very disappointed. The characters were very underdeveloped, hitting all clichés but no depth at all. The one chapter per person created dissonance in the narrative. The end was rushed, in fact the actual character growth comes in the last chapters....it was also very poorly researched (in particular related to Philanthropy and non profits). I wouldn't recommend this book at all...or maybe for a beach chair and a few hours to spare.
