An absolute pleasure to read. It's both funny (I've read the sea lion story to friends) and deeply profound.

This is a magical book in the truest sense. Abram's writing is lyrical and clear. His insights are stunning for their simplicity. A book like Spell of the Sensuous that I will go back to again and again.

Once again, David Abram makes us fall in love with the Earth in his exquisite essays that explore shadow, house, mind...and more. For example, his description of the three-dimensional quality of shadows will make you aware of the relationship you have with your own shadow. A book to have and read forever.

Dense, thought provoking, beautiful and strange. Wakes up the perceptions. Read, then go out into the world and look with new eyes.

Lovely writing style and inescapable logic. But what is more important is the clear message of interconnectedness between macro and microcosm - a message that needs to be appreciated in our times for our survival, not only corporal, but also of our soul.

Abram is an extraordinary writer. Rarely you will such an enjoyable read blending the inner and the outer so skilfully. Inanimate objects come to life. Absolutely recommendable.

A completely different way of seeing and living reality, bringing us back to the physical world we are part of, in all its wonder, intelligence and intensity.
