Nice to have as a reference after taking the class
Took the class and wanted the book so I could go back and reference things that i may not have remembered.. good book even if you don’t do the class. She is a good teacher and takes you thru step by step.

Worth every penny!
I took a photography class at my local community college, I watched YouTube tutorials, I took Nikon classes, and joined photography groups on social media. None of those combined have taught me all I've learned from A Year With My Camera. I'm about six months into the course and have learned so much! If you're at all interested in photography, I highly recommend you give this a try. Emma Davies does an amazing job teaching the subject and making it easily understandable. I'm a hands on learner so having the book in addition to the app is incredibly helpful!

Great accompaniment to the free online course!
I bought both Vol 1 and 2 of the A Year With My Camera books and they are worth every penny. The books are a great place to write notes and review lessons whenever I need a reminder of how to do something. The courses are amazing and with one new lesson a week, I am able to keep up with the lessons. My photography skills have improved immensely since beginning this course. I recommend this book (and Vol.1) to anyone who wants to understand their camera and start shooting pictures off of auto.

Take Emma's class and definitely buy her books!!
This year-long class can be completed without the books, BUT if you want the best photography resource you will ever own in hand during the class and afterwards, buy both books! There is a bit more "meat" in the chapters of The books than in the emails....although I used both The emails and The books. The class is legit, and the books will support you as you grow in your art, even after the class ends.

Great
I bought both books. They are so so good. I have a hard time understanding lessons but not with these books. Easy, understandable and I love both books

Book 1 is great.
Hope this is just as good as book 1. See no reason to think otherwise.

Poor quality Print/Paper, I would recommend the kindle version if it becomes available instead.
Note, this review is mainly to do with the quality of the item's print and not with the content itself. I haven't read much of Book 1 and none of this book (Book 2). My criticisms is not with the author or the content in the book, but in how its printed. My main negatives of this book and its companions are as followed. The book is really big, with very little content on each page. This is mainly due to the fact that text is far too large. I have bought similar books on photography from other publishers and they have much more information and illustrations on the page. and those books are of similar size or smaller. The quality of paper is very poor/ very cheap feeling, almost like someone used a house printer to print these pages. The quality of print is also poor / low resolution, and Black and white. which makes it difficult to see, what the author is describing int the images. My last point is that this is by far the more expensive set books when compared to similar, books which are cheaper, better and better quality colour prints. At the time of writing this review i purchased all the books below for the prices stated. This bookA Year With My Camera, Book 2: The ultimate photography workshop for complete beginners: Volume 2 Paperback -£23.23Book 1A Year With My Camera, Book 1: The ultimate photography workshop for complete beginners: Volume 1 Paperback was £19.37Digital Photography Complete Course Hardcover - £14Tony Northrup's Dslr Book: How to Create Stunning Digital Photography Paperback -£16.36That said i can't comment on the content as i have only read a little. My recommendation is to go for the other books above, until there is a better, cheaper printed version or a kindle version.

Brilliant
These Work Books are the Best way of learning how to use your DSLR Camera.having had such a camera for years and struggled to get to grips with it , a long comes thisexcellent product from Emma Davies. I'm only a few weeks into Work Book 1 and alreadyI'm fully off the Auto Mode and starting to take some greatly improved photographs. When you consider how much money you've spent on all your kit, buying both books andthe planner is a small price to pay.So BUY the books and see your photography improve as the weeks pass.

A proper workbook
I used this in conjunction with the excellent online course and whilst not essential it does expand on the information given in the weekly emails. It’s not a coffee table book, it’s a proper workbook made to be written in and used throughout the course (which I’ve done) and then can be kept and referred too later.

This is a brilliant course for anyone new to photography
I have taken photographs for 50 years but struggled to understand the technical side. Emma explains everything in a clear and simple way. I highly recommend this course to those starting out and to anyone who like me has a mental block over certain aspects of photography.

The best book ever for learning all about how to do what with ones camera, in getting you off the Auto mode.I'm taking Emma's course & just started in January so haven't worked from this book yet though have had a look through. Am on book one right now & going by that this book 2 will be a treat. If you want to get off Auto then join Emma's next course (on FB) - it's totally FREE.
