Excellent Steam Iron - Great Quality & Value
Excellent steam iron, I can’t believe it took me so long to invest in one. It irons extremely well; long, slow movements give the best results, especially on bed linen. It’s also very light, so there’s no need to press down hard like with a normal iron. I bought it on a 5-month payment plan, which really helped spread the cost and made it feel like great value for the quality. The only downside is that it’s a bit bulky, so storage can be tricky in a small flat, but it’s manageable. Highly recommend.

Brilliant Iron - plenty of steam, ample water tank.
We have had this a few months now, brilliant iron. Yes, as many of the reviewers have stated, it can spray out water initially, but it does tell you to let the initial steam clear in the instructions. Once this hurdle is overcome, the iron is fantastic, one of the best we have owned. Rapid ironing and effortless removal of creases, plenty of steam and more if you need it! The water tank has more than enough to last a full basket, definitely worth the extra money, although wait for the sales :) like we did. One thing that is a little annoying, you cannot stand the iron up on the ironing board, it has to be placed back on to the base, but we think of it as an additional safety feature.

Exceptional but wait for Prime Day as price drastically reduced.
Awesome - moving up from a previous Phillips steam generator iron - so much easier to use, and much faster to iron. A little bit of leakage for the first piece of clothing, but nothing of concern. Good steam pressure - and well controlled. If you are comparing this to another brand, ensure that other brand has auto temperature selection - this makes a huge difference when powering through a wide variety of different materials. Not so impressed with the ironing of curtains (in situ) but I'm not convinced any iron would handle that well. Especially very good with heavy materials. Light enough to use for long periods of time with hand ache. Always best to wait for Prime day or comparative sales days, as price is drastically reduced.

Very good but very expensive!
The iron is very impressive, it does what it says on the box (almost) and makes ironing less of a chore. It did heat up within 2 minutes and I had steam whenever I needed it. It is nice that you can put the iron down and leave it without fear of burning the board cover. It is also light and glides easily over the fabric. Having had a steam generator iron for nearly 10 years (Tefal) I knew what to expect in terms of noise and a wet floor, and despite this Philips iron being listed as silent steam it is not silent, as with all steam generators there is a lot of noise as the appliance moves water into the boiler (which happens quite often) and the steam coming from the iron as you use it is not ‘silent’, so don’t buy it and expect it to be noise free. The wet floor is something that you have to live with if you use a steam generator, I’m lucky that I use mine in the kitchen that has a tiled floor, if you want to iron in a carpeted room you’ll need to put a waterproof sheet down to catch the drips. Good ventilation is also a pre requisite - the steam does tend to fog up the room! You’ll also need to wipe down the board before you put it away. Having had a Tefal with an automated retractable lead and plug I will have to get used to manually folding the lead on this one to stow it away - not a major thing but it would be nice if Philips could follow Tefal in this, especially given the very high price that they are charging. I would definitely recommend the iron but its price is high which is my only criticism.

Fabulous, just one tiny flaw
I’ve been using Phillips steam generators for almost a decade now and would never go back to a regular iron. I bought this one a few months ago to replace my previous model that was dropped a few times and eventually fell apart (still worked though haha). This model is great and I love the fact that you no longer need to hold a button to release steam. It works beautifully on any fabric, just like the previous model. One small aspect to be aware of though: the iron will spray water for a few seconds initially before it gets really hot. This happens every time you warm up the iron from cold. Just make sure you release any steam/spray for the initial 10-15 seconds and you’re good to go, no other issues.

So expensive and bad quality product!
I’m really disappointed with this iron, especially considering the price. I’ve had to return a couple already (for similar reasons) , and Amazon has let me down a few times when they claimed to have repaired the one before this, which wasn’t the case. To make matters worse, they replaced it with a new one that’s now spewing steam on the base position, even when it’s in the normal position. It even wets the clothes! Instead of resolving my issue with the new one, it seems we’ve gone from a bad quality to a worse one. This iron is less than two weeks old! I’m now having to fight Amazon again for a replacement because they insisted before to return it and get a refund, which doesn’t help because the price of the product is ridiculous now. I got it on sale at £350, and now it’s £540! It also leaves us without an iron for sometime! Amazon also lied to me when they said since the repair was not done they would give me a full refund in voucher form and I wanted to get another iron, despite having this in writing they negated on it and said sorry you won’t get the refund of £547 as the iron was repaired ( it was not I hate lies) however we will give you a new one and £50 and here we are again. Having to waste time and energy to get a replacement!!! Be mindful if you are buying this as Amazon expats you to wait up to 20 business days ( they don’t say that on the phone) to be without an iron , plus you get no contact from their “partner” I have insisted that a new replacement comes before returning this one but am concerned that even a new one with have issues!!!!

When using this product the steam wets the clothes instead of steaming. Also making a loud noise. Not sure if this product is working properly. For the amount of money it cost this should NOT happen. I will be sending it back as I think it is faulty.

For someone like me who doesnt like to iron clothes, this steam iron makes it really easy and effective. The high pressured steam is really cool and makes ironing no longer a hated chore. The intelligent mode is also very useful and am just so glad that there is no need to watch out for burnt clothes or burnt iron board any more.

Unfortunately it arrived with a UK plug for Australia. I therefore have returned it. Needs to be made clearer when purchasing.

This iron is the replacement of our old model after 5 years of usage. Able to iron cloths faster.

Easy to use and iron on any fabric without needing to change the settings. My clothes used to be still wrinkled after ironing, but not anymore with Philips GC9682! I have stopped sending my clothes out to laundry service.
