Early Start IS 66412 3-Shelf Green House Workbench

This workbench has served me well for 2 years now for starting seeds, 4" pots and even small plants in gallon containers. I have it next to the exterior of the house and on the east side of the house so plants get morning sun. Keep in mind that on sunny days, this greenhouse gets extremely hot inside and you need to unzip it so the plants can survive - after just 1 hour of direct mid AM sun the interior gets hot.

Okay first of all the size of this thing would lead you to believe its possible to store several medium sized plants on either shelf. The problem here lies in the shelving itself, which is just very thin and cheap crosshatched wire. These "shelves" mount to the even flimsier frame with a single bolt in each anchor point, all of which feels like its going to snap in half while putting together. The shelves are also bowed in center, without anything on it. Point being, its not stable... with or without weight.Might be okay for a tray of seedlings. Anything heavier just doesnt sit right. I certainly would not trust this thing in an important greenhouse environment.

I have long wanted one of those fancy lighted grow shelves that you see in the gardening catalogues, but was put off by the price. I was therefore thrilled to find this shelf at such a great price. My husband hung a grow light from the top of each of the two shelves using some chain and a cheap clip from the hardware store and voila! A lighted shelf that allows me to start my seeds indoors when it's way too cold to even think about going out in the garden.Of course, that's not the only use of this shelf; it can also be used outdoors and I'm looking forward to using it, with the handy plastic cover, to gently transition my seedlings from indoors to out of doors. The plastic cover is great and quite sturdy; it's long enough that it reaches the floor (and then some), giving good insulation. Used in our (unheated and drafty) garage in the winter with the lights and heated seedling mats, the plastic covering kept it fairly toasty inside and also kept moisture in (important for growing seedlings). The front zips open and shut for easy access to your growing plants without having to remove the entire cover. The top shelf is handy for storing seed pots and tools; however, you'll want to avoid storing really heavy things up there (like bags of soil) as the shelf did bend a bit for me when I loaded several heavy thing on top of it. But for light things, it does just fine.In short I am simply thrilled to have found such a terrific product for a great price. With a little handywork, this shelf can provide you the "grow shelf" experience at a tiny fraction of the cost.

I sent it back without opening it because I found a cheaper one of literally the exact same thing on a different website.

I didn't give it fives stars as it is fairly flimsy construction but for the price I didn't expect much more. I use this outside to start my vegetables and I have noticed after about 2 months it is starting to corrode. I live in a very dry climate so I would imagine those of you in an area that has a good deal of rainfall would see more corrosion. Does the job though.

This happened to work perfectly for us: It is the perfect length/height for our apartment balcony. It is faily sturdy and works well as rain/light can get through the shelves. The onl downside is that because the shelves are essentially crossed wiring, they are not super strong. So, we were a little careful about how much wight we put on each. Other than that, works great and worth the money.

This little "greenhouse" is dynamite! It went together easily, it's sturdy enough to hold trays of seedlings, and the cover zips up tight to protect your young plants from the frost.It is NOT strong enough to use with potted plants, but that's not what it's made for. You do only get two usable shelves. I use the top of it for my watering can, gloves and other small items while I'm working with the seedlings.Great little product, great price. The only thing I would complain about is that the instructions say you can roll the cover up while it's open. Well, you could do that if it came with a couple of little ties sewn into the seems to tie it with but otherwise, no, not happening.

I was pleased with everything except the size of this. It is not 40" long like it states, it is 36" long. Other measurements are correct. My 3 foot light fits just perfect.
