The locking notch does not fit in the lid properly. It sounds like it is grinding. Took off the lid and the machine worked. However now the liquid is not covered and anything can fall into it. Plus without the lid the cold air is not contained and liquid will not freeze.

Love it, followed the directions to a T and watched a video beforehand to know exactly what to do.

Got this item and it was broken. We did send it back and receive a new one but after using it twice it got a hole.

Bought this as a present for my husband who enjoys slushies. It is a bit loud,but other than that go get one. Was a big hit with everyone, including the adults. Keep the ice and salt near as you will need to keep adding. Was a bunch of fun. Great gadget. Quite pleased.

Unit takes forever to begin freezing the liquids even though the liquids were stored in the freezer for over an hour.Unit also begins jamming before getting close to slushy consistency.I gave it 1 star since zero is not an option

I thought this would be gimmicky, but I actually really like it. I’m not sure exactly all of the uses or how much use I’ll get out of it, but it is so fast and so easy to shave an entire block of ice. It only took me a few seconds and zero muscle, so anyone can do this. The handle is large, and all of the sharp objects are contained, so it would be safe for kids.I like that the handle has a big knob to make it easier. The assembly makes perfect sense, I didn’t even have to look at the instructions. The only caution I have is that stacking the cups for ice can get them a little bit stuck, but water separated them.The shaved ice itself is also really nice, it’s pretty basic, basically what you would expect from this, it’s not true granules but more of a true shave, which I really enjoy. It also makes for a really great slush if you accidentally made way too much ice because you didn’t realize how quickly it was going through the block.I cannot emphasize enough how easy and fun this was, all I did was stick the container in the freezer, and pop the ice in. Assembling the whole thing and shaving the entire block of ice probably took me a minute, maybe two.
