Work well, good design, drill bit holds up well

Wedges and feathers worked great. Was able to easily feature a four ft in diameter boulder. The drill bit with a regular drill didn’t work well. Had to rent an air hammer for holes.

Hammer drilled a big ol boulder so deep. Put these bad boys in the cranked on them so violently until it busted.

I read some reviews that these were not up to the task. They fully exceeded all my expectations. Here is how I was successful using these to break up concrete.First, be sure you drill your holes far deeper than these wedges. Use the proper diameter drill bit. For the concrete ranging from 4 inches to 6 inches thick, I did holes 4 to 5 inches apart.Assemble the three metal pieces with the heavy rubber washer. Barely engage the actual wedge. This lets you drop the assembly almost completely into the hole. I also tapped both outer sleeves down as far as they would go, just tapping them.Then, using a single-jack, start tapping in each of the wedges. You will hear it and you will feel it as they bottom out. Just keep working back-and-forth from one to the next. You will quickly see a crack forming from hole to hole.When you drive the wedges down, don’t keep bashing them. If you have reached the rubber washer, it is time to stop.It is critical that you have a gap on the away side of the piece you are breaking off. There must be some place for the waste to move into as you are driving in those wedges. I still had to pry the slabs away. In fact, I used my single-jack to break the slabs apart once they broke off. It made it easier to work them out of their nest.I did use a drop of three-in-one oil on each of the three parts. Just seems to help them not get bound.Like any tool, you must treat them as they are designed to be used, and you must not abuse them. If you try to take shortcuts and use the wrong sized hole, for example, you will definitely have problems. If you try to brute force your way into success, guaranteed you will have problems. If you bash the ever-loving snot out of these, guaranteed you will have problems.Treat them right, and you will have success.

It really works! I have a large decorative boulder in my front yard. I've wanted to get rid of it for years but it was too big for a sledge hammer or jackhammer to do any damage. I purchased this wedge and feather set, drilled 5 holes with the included bit and in 15 minutes cracked the rock right in half. I was amazed that it worked that perfectly the first time. I will keep breaking the rocks until the pieces are small enough to move with a dolly. Highly recommend.

Wedges seem to work fine but the included bit is good for only about one and a half holes. Not worth using. Don’t bother with it.

Splitters worked as described. The drill bit needed to be replaced rather quickly.

This Wedge and feather set worked great for cutting through buried rocks.I used this tool a lot when putting in a privacy fence around our house in New England. Every post hole that I dug encountered rocks of all sizes. I used this tool a cut through or break up the larger ones (50lb+) that were too much work to dig around and remove. Note, it makes life a lot easier if you have an impact drill.
