A bargain. The best sound quality under £1000
These are an incredible bargain. I have Audeze LCD-X and prefer the Sundara. The LCD-X cost £1400 and the Sundara were on special offer for £300. They are lighter, less aggressive presentation and more relaxed. The bass is wonderfully subtle and high resolution. I also have the Sennheiser HD800S, not for much longer though, as the Sundara share a similarly wide sound stage with a less clinical and more fun to listen to presentation, especially the mids. The only thing that comes close to the Sundara are Hifman's own Ananda and Arya, HE1000 and the Focal Clears. Just be sure to pair with a good amp and let them burn in for at least 50 hours, so they sound at their best. The LGV30 + Oppo HA2SE is a nice combination with the Sundara.

Great sound quality
Superb headphones. Need an amp and possibly a dac to get its full capability though as not as easy to drive as what it says on the tin. Sound quality is quite exceptional for the price. I use them with a topping e30 / d30 stack (dac/amp) and I am very impressed. In terms of comfort maybe they are not the best for long listening periods, but that could be quite harsh of an assessment. They’re not uncomfortable but the pads don’t fully cover my ears, which makes me want to adjust them time and again.

Clear and analytical
These are by far the clearest sounding headphones I’ve heard. The sound is very analytical, with exceptional imaging of instruments. If that’s your thing( it is mine, it turns out), these will not disappoint. For genres such as jazz, classical or acoustic, these will reveal layers you never knew were there. For metal or hard rock, the imaging can sometimes detract from the energy as I’m tending to listen to separate instruments instead of listening to the track as a whole. My Sennheisers are better for this, but for everything else, the Sundaras blow them out of the water. These are the headphones I’ve been looking for since I got into audio. Bass isn’t just a low end thump; the inflections in the notes are discernible for the first time, giving John Coltrane and Miles Davis a new depth. For my money, this is where most dynamic driver headphones are weakest and planers come to the fore. These deserve an audition against anything else under £500.

Almost flawless
The sound is natural and well balanced. Almost flawless. Just a little weak in the bass. Philips Fidelio X2 has a similar sound, but a stronger bass. Because of the stronger bass, I think these headphones are better, although they are much cheaper. So I recommend that you save the money, and buy Philips Fidelio X2 instead of Hifiman Sundara (On the other hand, X2 are huge, and they are not adjustable, except for a primitive elastic band. If you don't have a big head, they might be too big for you).

What a soundstage!
The headphones were exactly what I expected based on online reviews (specifically RTINGS.COM and Joshua Valour). I bought them for €350 / £300 and they totally worth it. The headphones are very clear, they have the necessary bass (but I do not listen to electronica to testify) and the soundstage is great... The clarity, detail and positioning of sounds and organs are amazing. Please mind the weird cable that comes with the headphones that remind me of a ... stethoscope, lol!

Premium sounding headphones but delicate.
Premium sounding headphones. Good clarity and soundstage throughout the range, comfortable to wear on long listening sessions (2+hours). Step up from my old dt990's but due to the magnetic planar driver their delicate. I've dropped my pair once over the last 6months and that resulted in damage to the driver unfortunately, so as good as they are I am forced back to my old headphones.

BEST HEADPHONES UNDER £500
I've had many headphones over the years, recently bought these in the last sale they had on them and they are fantastic. I also own some Audeze lcd2 headhones and these are in most respects better. the build quality too is better than i thought and they are extremely comfortable. please note , you will need a headphone amplifier to properly drive these and bring their true potential out, at least something like like an ifi hipdac or equivelent which i use with balanced cables and they really sing!

Value for money
There's a reason everyone recommends those headphones. I use them with SoundBlaster AE9. They perform extremely well. On the level of Shure 1540, which is twice the price. I'm not comparing the design, Shures are closed, those are open, but in terms on clarity. Indeep punch way above their price. I did replace the audio cable with a braided one. Thankfully, they use 2 3.5mm connectors, and not some proprietary tech. Obviously I can't use those when my wife sits near, as she doesn't like the same music I do. You've been warned.
