Good weight
The weight of this axe makes it easy to split logs.

Good sturdy and effective splitting axe 8lb/3.6kg
I bought the 8lb/3.6kg to split 30cm to 40cm unseasoned walnut logs. I'm fit and young so the extra weight was not a problem. Ignore the reveiws where people say the axe needs sharpening. This kind of axe splits logs with force, not sharpness. Worked well chopping up all these logs without getting stuck (see my photos). Only used it once but looks like it will last for years. I would recommend that beginners watch how to videos on YouTube before using the axe

Sturdy and modern build, works well on seasoned wood
After a lot of use these mauls tend to get worn around the business end due to mis-swings and the plastic parts wear away but this doesn't stop the head working and splitting those dry logs nicely, there's a ridge to stop the head getting stuck in slightly damper logs which does help when you're wriggling it loose. Good value for money but probably worth spending a bit more on something professional if you're getting through a huge amount of logs.

Heavy hitter
Superb quality, and for those logs with knots on them this is what you need- has a great shape to the head which stops it getting stuck in the really difficult ones. Lighter mauls/axes actually take more effort and are harder work!

A bit much
The media could not be loaded. A splitting maul should be blunt and heavy but this maul has a convex rounded edge so looses alot of its initial impact force

Effective!
This splitting maul works well; but you will need to use a wedge to split thicker logs.

Great product, good price.
A powerful tool, maybe a bit big for me I’m 5.7 and 12st but just managed and enjoyed using it.Made light work of turning wood rings into logs. Delivery was prompt, packaging torn but no prob.So far a great product, hope it lasts.
