I am so glad I found this book! It is the perfect companion for the materials I am using to teach my data science students to communicate their findings through visuals and narrative. It's a succinct, easy read filled with many golden nuggets of data presentation wisdom and helpful, practical how-to's and examples. It is exactly what I was looking for!

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone who wants to learn how to communicate data more effectively. It's well-written and easy to understand, even for those who are new to data storytelling. Kat does a great job of explaining complex concepts in an elegant and clear and concise way. Overall, this is a great book that I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their data communication skills for their stakeholders.

So helpful for conveying data findings to insights that can be understood and used. Her writing style is approachable and clear, as well as fun with the examples, pictures, and try it yourself exercises. I've been working in analytics for 12 years and was excited to find perspectives and approaches I either hadn't considered before, forgotten, or lost the will to keep trying haha, but found new reasons to try again. This has become a book my whole team references and has learned a great deal from as well. Can't recommend this book more highly.

I've always been a little confused about how you turn a chart into a data story, but this book breaks it down into clear steps. It covers the basics of a data story (like character, audience, metric) and then shows the building blocks of all data stories. You can rearrange these blocks in tons of ways. This book is really easy to understand and I feel like I finally have a grasp of how to build a data story!

I have been following her for the last five years and am really amazed by her work.This is one of the books that I can digest information so quickly. As a visual learner, I appreciate this book so much.I love the visual, condensed, but easy-to-understand message on each page. I love how you emphasize key messages using different visuals, colours and images.100% agree that not every data story needs a visual, and data storytelling not about the tool; it is more about the process that data lead us to.
