Bobby Fischer Metal Chessmen with Leather Bottoms - Pieces are Zinc Alloy Electroplated with Silver and Bronze - 4.25 in. King by WE Games

This was an easy 5 stars. These pieces are beautiful and nicely weighted. These are, quite simply, the nicest chess pieces I have ever seen. The color is as shown in the photos darker bronze and a lighter copper. The description says The Bobby Fischer Series Silver and Bronze..., but it is really copper and bronze. I was worried that there would not be enough contrast between the two colors, but they are fine. I am using the dark bronze for black and the copper for white. They fit perfectly on a board with 2.375" squares. I think they would work fine on a board with 2.25" squares too.

These pieces are absolutely amazing. They are the perfect size for my large board and look gorgeous.

The pieces look great. They are very large, so don’t feel as heavy as you’d think (despite being heavier than most on the market). The colors are also very similar, which sort of adds an extra element of difficulty because it’s easy to mistake your pieces for your opponent’s. All in all, awesome set!

This is just a stunning chess set. Beautiful detail. Each chess man is perfect. Highly lacquered finish so it is very glossy and smooth to the touch.But adjust your expectations - the description says silver and bronze so you might think they are solid metal. That description applies to the color but not the material it is made out of. They they have a very nice weight and feel very good while playing but they aren't solid brass or silver. The description says zinc alloy with an electroplated finish. The pieces are weighted in the base and lighter at the top. The silver king weighs exactly 100g and the copper king comes in at a slightly lighter 97g. To finish off the base, there is a small patch of faux leather glued to the bottom of the pieces.One set is darker and the other lighter. In the right lighting one set does have a smokey black/silver hue. Think of the new Samsung Black Stainless refrigerator color. The other set is clearly copper color. I was a bit worried they would be hard to tell apart while playing but it's really not any trouble at all. I play copper as white and the dark silver metallic color as black.The king measures slightly more than the stated 4.25" - I measured just short of 4.5 inches to the tip of his crown. This could be important if you buy a box to hold the pieces. The pawns are about half that size.For this set you really need a large board - probably 21" would work best.(I'd suggest a 21" board like this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PRAE2S4)The price of this set is a bit high ($145 as of Oct 10 2018). But unless you are willing to fork out $400 for a true bronze set this is about as close are you are going to get.All in all this is a fantastic high end rustic antique feeling set. Love it.
