What you are seeing in the photos is a result of a design flaw coupled with corner cutting. Some genius decided it would be a good idea to attach metal hinges to molded plastic stems using metal nuts. Everything will be fine until the hinge gets enough cycles on it to get a little stiff, then one day you'll open it up, hear "snap crackle and pop" and your screen will look like the photos after the plastic stems break off. To add insult to injury, I sent those photos to Dell and the lady told me it would be fixed under warranty if I sent it back to their service center or I could pay $325 for someone to fix locally. (Note that's half the cost of the laptop). She said it would be returned within 2 weeks if I sent it in, so I borrowed a laptop to use in the meantime and sent it in. 5 days later I get an email that the repairs are not covered under warranty and they would contact me for payment options. After I called them and chewed them out, they said they would fix it under warranty as originally promised but they haven't touched since according to the tracking so I still don't have my laptop. Dell had been my "go to" for many years and my last Dell lasted 7 years..... no joke..... 7 years. I had changed the battery every 2 years and just swapped out the hard drives to squeeze a couple more years out of it, then there was an accident and that laptop was toast. I needed a quick replacement so I bought this one. Safe to say this will be the LAST Dell I ever buy if they have started making them this flimsy and won't stand behind their product.

This laptop is fantastic! It's not too heavy and it still runs quickly despite the fact that I keep a million tabs open. The one down side is there is no back lighting on the keys, but for this steal of a deal price I'll take it - especially since that is the only down side I can see.

This laptop was even better than I expected. It does everything I need.

I've bought a bunch of equipment from this company so I was surprised to be treated as I was.This laptop crashed after a couple of months. I sent it back to Dell since it was within the 90 day warranty.Dell told me that they wouldn't fix it because the laptop contained 3rd party components. When I asked to seller to replace it, they said it was past my 30 day return window. I've had to escalate this matter to Amazon customer service.

Excellent. Fast, fast, fast! Got for my daughter's graduation to replace her aging Apple laptop. She was so ready to come back to Windows and less than half of a comparable Apple system.
