Questionable seal
I liked the first time I used one. There are drawbacks to the design though. The lids are difficult to seat and come with a manufactured ring that you have to remove manually. The seal on the second bucket and lid I used would not seal no matter what I did essentially making it an open ferment (I thought it was stalled). The stainless blowoff tube is a good idea. The buckets are crap.

Great fermentation buckets.
Do yourself a favor and peel the strip off the lid prior to using it. You will have a fun time trying to take the lid off without peeling off the strip and you will disturb the beer trying to take it off.

Great deal on great brew buckets!
These are good wide buckets. I like that they are wider than the standard 5 and 6.5 gallon buckets. The lids seal very well and the blow off tubes work great. It's also a great price for two of everything.

These worked great. Sealed fine
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Brewed yesterday. These worked great. Sealed fine. Was a little concerned because of some of the other reviews but they worked just as they should.

The blow off tubes don't reach all the way to the ground like I thought they would
These were a decent price and came with blow off tubes, so 2 stars for the extras, but that's where it ends. The blow off tubes don't reach all the way to the ground like I thought they would, so I'll need to find something to prop up or replace the beaker I was using (or just go back to my 3' tube). I also think it's worth a few extra bucks to find the rubber gasket based ones that these are replacing after 7 years of brewing. They are painful to open, even with tools. Be prepared to bleed a bit if you slip, which is likely since after the first use you only have one handle to leverage for starting the lid up. I like to keep any tools for brewing with my brewing gear, which also means buying a rubber mallet to use specifically with these guys. Given the hammering and bending to close and open then lid, I'd be surprised if these last me as long as my old ones did. I'll give them a few more brews this summer and change my review here if I feel differently. Especially if the seal is still air tight but loosens up after a few uses.UPDATE: Reduced to 1 star. Reuse of the lid has never 100% sealed and leaks CO2 during fermentation making this bucket useless.UPDATE 2: yes, i removed the bottom part of the lid seal. They have gotten easier to open with time. The problem that also came up shortly into use was that a portion of the plastic seal easily bent during one reuse, which completely compromised it's ability to have an air tight seal in that location. The gasket on the top of the lid is also a bit too loose fitting so at times the thing has fallen into the beer while pressing an airlock into it.

I have a batch fermenting right now and these buckets are working well. The lid has a very tight seal and the blowoff tube is working as expected.
