Black or White (2014)

In the beginning the film seemed promising bur the storyline was lack lustre I wished they had challenged the characters between the father and the grandmother; in showing the realistic side of what really happens during an actual custody tug of war in regards to a child. I think the film producers were scared to push the boundaries and decided to play it safe. Movies are a great and powerful medium for story telling of fiction and non fiction. I say that if you're going to TELL a story in words and pictures,, tell it and do it well, so that the public get to learn realistic, valuable, poignant and meaningful lessons of life.........whatever the scenario maybe.

Beautiful cinematography and a solid cast do as much as they can to compensate for what is ultimately a very disappointing screenplay.With the exception of one good speech from Kostner, we are left with a series of tired stereotypes propped up by worn cliches.It is a film that provokes and then waves a white flag at issues of modern race relations and communication that are crying out to be tackled head on.With this tonnage of on-screen talent, it could have done so much more...

I am love this movie; because it show grandfather fighting for his granddaughter and deadbeat dad finally being honest with himself..likewise who has a drinking problem grandfather..more fathers should be honest and should fight for their children and step up and take responsibility for their children instead of running away from their responsibilities and face their fears that is holding them back and blinding them of what in front of them which are kids that important. It set a stage of forgiveness and family coming together to put the child first..love it .

I watched a lot of movies over the time and I have to admit, I got lost with this one, I understand the story behind is really powerful but I have the feeling there is no subject. Stayed until the end to see what is happening and I was like......that`s it?A bit disappointed. Have to admit though, the actors played really good.Interesting story, boring for me.Thank you

The film takes you through all the emotions, but, overall, had a lighthearted feel to it. The story was straightforward, and it is a shame that in many parts it was so simple, obvious and stereotypical, but i guess this may have been part of the lighthearted / comedy feel. Overall, i think it is worth a watch, but it could have been better...

Beautifully film based on a true situation, presented with warmth and humour. Heart warming, emotional and very real with a dramatic edge of the seat twist at the end. Well worth watching and highly recommended.

This is a brilliant film that really made you think, Kevin Costner played the part of the grieving father and husband absolutely brilliant me and are struggling grandad. Octavia played the part of a happy grandma brilliantly. In the end I was unsure which way did you go this film is really worth watching I loved it!

kevin costner has to bring up his granddaughter on his own because his daughter and wife have tragically died. his one vice is whiskey which is not beneficial to him or her. the fathers family want custody but he has a drug problem. the story draws you in and you wonder howthe outcome will be.
