Jungfraujoch is highest rly station in Europe. Jungfrau Rly is longest cogwheel rly in Europe, Wengenaralp Bahn climbs from two stations on either side of mountain, Lauterbrunnen & Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg. Railcars glide up mountainside whilst tiny ancient electric locos look after freight & works trains.Froun Grund, near Grindelwald, longest cableway of its kind in Europe soars to Miinnlichen Massif. Bernese Oberland Bahn runs from Interlaken to both Lauterbrunnen & Grindelwald. A combined adhesion & rack metre gauge line with swift trains. A steam loco & Kaiserwagen. From Lauterbrunnen, a funicular rises to Grutschalp where passengers change to metre gauge LMB for a ride along crest of a high cliff on west side of Lauterbrunnental to Murren. From this car free mountain resort another funicular scales rocks to Allemendhubel for one of most spectacular mountain views of the world! Interlaken is hub of Berneses Oberland & Bern-Lotschberg-Simplon Rly from west around shores of Lake Thun. Distinctive brown locos haul a BLS blue & cream carriages & those of Swiss Federal Rlys in green. The only nationally owned narrow gauge rly, Burnig Bahn arrives in Interlaken. On Lake Brienz we board a restored coal fired paddle steamer. A funicular rises to Harder Kulm from Interlaken past a zoo where Ibex can be seen. Schynige Platte Bahn rises from Wilderswil, to a height of nearly 2,000 metres. Its ancient rolling stock undertakes a journey.Filmed in 1990 with the technology available at the time.
