Jorgensen 3.5 inch mini wood plane
This is a cute little thing but it's clearly not a toy. Unlike most planes I've had that required setting the blade carefully (with that single knob that just clamps the blade to the frame) sometimes 3 or 4 times to get the right depth of cut, this little Jorgensen plane has a micro adjustment that allows setting the exact depth. What a good idea! Small planes like this are the only way to deal with small jobs, meaning using small pieces of wood that still need to be smooth and flat at certain angles. I couldn't find my other small plane so I got this 3.5 inch instead (it will probably turn up and then I'll have at least 2 VERY useful small planes.) The blade is very sharp, made with O1 tool steel, nice and thick with a good bevel that will make it easier to sharpen on the diamond hone. I really like the micro adjusting blade, but the rest of the tool looks equally well made and very strong with the malleable iron frame. I take great precautions to never drop a plane since it will probably ruin something and be useless, but this one looks like it would just bounce off the floor and ask "is THAT all you got?"

Very sharp
Let me just say i have been doing carpentry and finnish work my whole life and thats a while. This little plane is perfect for those small deburing jobs, sticky door adjustments and anything in between. You wont want to plane an edge on a 8 foot long piece of poplar with it, thats for sure but when you can have something this small, this sharp in arms length you cant go wrong. The adjusting takes a minute to get use to, obviously its not like the micro adjustments you get on the big boys but its not a deal breaker. I installed a door in december and i knew when the humid weather came there might be some tweaking to do. Well humidity came and this plane did great.

Too small for a door edge
It seems to work to some degree but is really too small for even the side of a door, which is what I'm trying to shave down. The fairly adjustable blade is sharp and I can see that it's taking off some amount of wood, but it's so small that it would take me quite some time to get this job done.I'll be in search of a slightly larger planer.

Great plane for the beginner and perfect out of the box
I am beyond impressed by the quality of this plane, as my first one from Jorgenson. I wasn't expecting much at its price point, was expecting to spend an hour or so flattening the sole and sharpening the blade but all in all it was about 30 minutes of it. Honestly, I probably didn't have to do that, because the blade is sharp, but the factory grind is a bit rough. But all in all easy to set up and go, the action of the adjustment knob is very helpful for this size plane and the added weight is not a problem.

Wood plain nut
I have been a bit of a plain nut since shop class back in the 60s. when I saw this little guy at the price of $12 and change I just had to have it I don't know if I'll ever use it but it sure is cute

Very useful, and well made.
Very well made. Small and fits into my bag easily. A thick, stable blade, that holds an edge well and gives chatter free performance. Easy to adjust and holds it's setting. Fits my hand well, or more accurately it's easy for me to grip (it's small and my hands are big). I find myself reaching for it often to take care of things as i notice them. Handy. An excellent value.Just right. I love this plane.

Awesome little tool !
Not sure why anyone would leave anything negative about this . This is a quality tool that works very well and easy to use. I ordered because I needed a smaller tool and this fit the job perfectly.

Good little plane, needed tuning
Ergonomics is good. It is a srandard angle plane (20°). Blade 7/8" wide and 1/8 thick (thick!) with 25° bevel.I like the adjustment wheel but you have to sight it, there's a lot of play in it.Out of the box,the blade hole in the bottom had bumps on the edge. I quickly filed that off with 220 sandpaper and polished with 400 almost to a mirror. The metal is very soft, I'm sure you can just do 400. I recommend a mirror finish, that makes it easy to sight the blade as you are tightening it.The blade bevel was not ground flat, more like a small dip in the middle. I gound it to more or less flat shape on the stone. The edge is more important and you'll probably put a secondary bevel, but i just mostly kept the 25°
