The Raincloud of Knowable Things: A Practical Guide to Transpersonal Psychology: Workshops: History: Method: 3 (Wisdom of the Transpersonal)

Good transpersonal book
This is a really lovely book, imbued with the spirit of the two authors, and beautifully edited by Hazel Marshall. It is all about actually running transpersonal workshops, and gives word-for-word instructions on how to do it. It is divided into `Introductory Workshops' and `Advanced Workshops', with an `Intermezzo' between them, devoted to the use of imagery. Theoretical points are made incidentally along the way, and anyone reading this would get a complete introduction to transpersonal psychology. As with the other books in this series, much of the content dates back to the 1980s, but some of it certainly comes from the 1990s. This means that the most recent ideas about the transpersonal are not to be found here. But what the reader does get is something readable, usable, and practically valuable. It is beautifully produced, with plenty of colour illustrations. There are also come reproductions of Ian's handwritten notes. I found the chapter on the chakras a bit unorthodox, but really there is no one correct version. There are twenty appendices, such as Transcenders and actualisers, Some Buddhist teachings (Classic), Six stages of discipleship (Alice Bailey), Guided imaging and fantasy techniques (Desoille, Leuner, Assagioli), Masculine and feminine aspects in the archetypal context, Seven Archetypes, Seven Rays (Alice Bailey), the chakras and the glands, and so forth. There is a bibliography and an index. Highly recommended, particularly for the newcomer to the transpersonal who has some knowledge of Jung.

The best work I came across in forty years as a practitioner .
I had the honour of studying with Ian and Barbara in the 1970s. And 80s l then went on to use what l learned in my work as a psychotherapist their work is worthy of far greater recognition in the treatment of all emotional and mental problems .they are truly the leaders in an area which society is sorely in need of .does it work? Yes it does .lan was one of the truly humble spiritual leaders of his generation .he was dedicated to helping all who needed his wise advise as was Barbara. .buy it and mee a great mind

Very accessible to those not already having a Psychology Degree
This book tackles a very complex subject and not something I could sum up easily here. I found it to be challenging and an interesting read and thought that I managed to keep up with the thread. It goes into depth and explains these complex theories and concepts in an accessible way for someone who has limited medical or psychology knowledge.
