My goodness what a discovery! Already a Lisa Kleypas fan I have to admit I was not at all sure I would like this book - pirate adventures are definitely not my usual choice. In fact I bought it merely because it was the sequel in the Max and Lysette Vallerand story and it was obvious Justin (the 'naughty twin') was building up to something interesting in the first book. As pure escapism it was totally brilliant and I found I had a very difficult choice to make - did I carry on reading, as I was desperate to do, or, did I limit my reading time to delay the disappointment of having finished the tale? I just had to read on and will now have to content myself with the prospect of re-reading the whole thing again very soon. Don't be deceived by the pirate theme, I almost missed out on one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read and would hate you to make the same mistake. 100% recommended!

Ms Kleypas writes enthralling romances.These books are page turners.The main characters are believable although sometimes anachronistic words are present in conversations.I've had the pleasure of reading most of her output.You can rarely go wrong buying a book with her name on it.

The second Vallerands book is much more polished and emotional than the first… Celia is the new bride of Phillip Vallerand (the good twin from the first Vallerands book) but when the ship taking them to New Orleans is attacked by Pirates, Phillip is killed and suddenly Celia finds herself at the mercy … Eventually… Of ruthless pirate Captain Griffin whose eyes bear a startling resemblance to her dead husband. Complete with pirate islands, daring rescues, melt-your-knickers love scenes and a dark and brooding hero who skirts right on the edge of being a villain, this is a delicious entry in Kleypas's canon of terrific historical romances

My favourite of them all! I can read it every year and never get bored, since Lisa's writing is very captivating and it takes you right into the depths of the story and this one comes with a bonus of this bad, bad pirate, who turns out to be just as charming as any of the others (Lisa's books') heroes. This book is a treat! Cup of tea (or bar of chocolate - depending on what you like) and a few hours of your time and you'll be taken away to Orleans a few centuries ago and you wouldn't want to come back! You'll see!

Identifying who the hero was was a challenge and I ended up questioning my own attitudes because the Griffin really is a complex character and not very nice compared to Philippe. However the story is fast paced with a good amount of adventure and romance

I read this book in two sittings over the weekend - exciting, passionate, witty, adventurous and of course romantic, great twists and a story you with solid and believable characters. Kleypas has done it again!!!

Lisa Kleypas never disappoints! She is such a talented writer especially when it comes to romance! I have read all of her books for that reason!

Only with Your Love n'est pas le roman le plus récent de Lisa Kleypas, mais il paraît qu'elle a réécrit certaines scènes. C'est peut-être pour cette raison qu'on n'est pas surpris en le lisant, ni déçu. L'histoire est riche en rebondissement, bien plus que le premier tome des Vallerand, When Strangers Marry. On plonge dans l'atmosphère du Sud des Etats Unis au début des années 1800, et dans le monde... des pirates. C'est l'histoire d'une française qui arrive aux Etats Unis avec son nouveau mari, Philippe, mais leur bateau est attaqué par des pirates, Philippe meurt, et notre jolie héroïne est sauvée par Justin, pirate lui aussi à ses heures perdues, et frère de Philippe. Une romance qui tient la route, car les personnages ont de la profondeur, et l'alchimie a lieu. J'ai passé un bon moment en lisant ce livre, qui fait facilement oublier les petits soucis de la vie quotidienne, (comme beaucoup d'histoires romantiques...). Ce n'est pas forcément le meilleur que Lisa Kleypas ait écrit, mais l'histoire entre les deux personnages principaux fait partie de celle que je préfère dans ses romans.

Noch während ihrer Reise dorthin müssen beide feststellen, dass zwischen ihnen eine Anziehungskraft herrscht und Celia stellt erschüttert fest, dass sie weit mehr für Justin Vallerand empfindet als blose Dankbarkeit. Doch können ein Pirat und die Frau seines Bruders ihr gemeinsames Glück finden?Als Justin nach einer Verwundung gezwungen ist im Haus seiner Familie Unterschlupf zu finden merkt er schon bald, dass Celia ihn in einem Netz verstrickt, in dem er nicht gefangen sein möchte. Und doch kann er nichts gegen die Gefühle tun, die in ihm wachsen und sein ganzes Leben verändern.Celia und Justin sind sehr unterschiedliche Charaktere, die eine tolle Balnce finden ohne melodramatisch oder unglaubwürdig zu werden.Ich fand den Piraten Aspekt an der Geschichte sehr interessant, das ist mal etwas anderes.Ein wundervoll geschriebenes Buch mit tollen Charakteren, voller Charme, Spannung, knisternder Leidenschaft und Liebe.

Set in 1817, beginning in the Gulf of Mexico, this is the story of Celia Vallerand, who sails from France with her new husband, Philippe, to the home of his wealthy Creole family in New Orleans. Even though they are wed, he has yet to bed her. And then pirates attack their ship.The book begins with some exciting scenes as pirate Dominic Legare kills the men and takes Celia captive as a present for his brother, Andre. In New Orleans, Celia is paraded in front of the pirates in a tavern when one “Capt. Griffin”, a privateer turned pirate, spots her and decides to take her. Of course, he has to kill a few pirates to get her but he manages that quite nicely.And then we learn Griffin is really Justin Vallerand, Philippe’s twin brother (Celia didn’t see him as like her husband because of Justin’s beard). As it turns out neither brother acted much the hero when it came to women. Unable to restrain himself, Justin takes Celia’s virtue before he returns her to his family, her in-laws. And then a tangled web is revealed as Celia and Justin clash while fighting the pirates together.I have to say that this heroine came across a bit inconsistent and, at times, cold and indifferent. Kleypas writes well, of course, and there are some good surprises, but her fans might find this one a bit different than her usual Regencies. It’s a mild bodice ripper and it does have pirates with some good action scenes.When Strangers Marry is the first book in the 2-book series.

Wenn man das Gefühl hat, schon alle lesenswerte Liebesgeschichten auf dem Markt gelesen zu haben, macht es umso glücklicher, wenn man das Gefühl nicht bestätigt sieht.Lisa Kleypas füllt meine Regale, aber dieses hier ist mir bisher entwischt.Es ist zauberhaft dieses Buch.Nicht nur wegen der wunderschönen Liebesgeschichte, sondern auch wegen der Andersartigkeit, der Abwechslung zu den sonstigen Settings in der Regencyaristokratie Englands.Das Buch entführt in die versunkene Schönheit der Südstaaten, ist dabei allerdings nur Kulisse für die schönste Geschichte, die ich seit langem gelesen habe.Vielleicht sind gewisse Charakterzüge etwas stumpf und dienen allzu sehr der Geschichte, vielleicht sind gewisse Formulierungen sehr typisch für das Genre und ein wenig unreflektiert, aber all das wurde wirklich nebensächlich.Ich habe jedes Wort genossen. Es ist lange her, dass mich ein Buch so in das Geschehen hinabziehen konnte und alles andere an den Rand der Wahrnehmung gedrängt wurde.
