It is a very elegant material for pastel. Use it only for best work, not for practicing. Very expensive, but versatile for pastel art.Very good for soft pastel so far. Haven't tried oil pastels yet. It holds soft pastel really well.

I purchased these for a beginner's pastel workshop that I taught for my local art guild. It's important to have the proper surface and quality pastels to fully experience the potential of the pastel medium. Pastelmat provides a consistent surface that is smooth enough to achieve a velvety look and smooth gradient blending while also having enough of a tooth to capture and hold pigment. Far better-looking results than those so-called pastel papers that have a textured surface that shows through your finished work.

This is the best mat for pastels. Nice and thick! Texture is excellent. Mat holds several layers of pastels. Excellent!!

My first try with Pastelmat. The teachers I follow all recommend this. It is a bit pricey for me. I practice on cheaper paper and thenI use this paper which is excellent. I like how it doesn’t blend over and go past what you draw it stays right where you drew it. The pastels. Blend better and allow more layers. Great paper

This is my first time trying Pastelmat. I like the texture very much.The pad came shrink wrapped in plastic that pulled the whole pad into a curl shape that I have had a very hard time getting flat again.Otherwise this is very nice paper. I will order in other sizes and colors.

Combining this paper with new Caran d’Ache pencils has been a game changer for my art work

It was great for the layering process, an economy version would be nice😁

Only 4 white sheets not 12 as mentioned...no glued pad...no glassine paper as well .. please don't buy this product.
