Still has the external charging port….
We live in a place with frequent power outages had 4 or 5 of these from dlight over the past 10 years - they last really well but I wasn’t sure if the option for charging from an external wall charger was included in the latest model.Ordered one on chance and can confirm it’s still there - works with the (very old fashioned) Nokia 2mm charger that plugs into the wall to charge the batteries when you don’t want to bother with solar.

Long Lasting Light Still Going Strong
So, I have had these solar lanterns since 2014 and they are still going strong. These have gone through tropical storms, 🌀 and occasional power outages in Florida, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. I have bought them for family members as practical gifts that I know are quality products.

I use them everyday
We live overseas in the jungle and these are our main source of light at night. All the stats they post on their product have proven to be true. I've personally owned 20 of these. The first set of 10 I had lasted between 3-5 years but died due to battery life. I'm on my second batch of 10 now.Would I recommend this to someone? Depends. If you go camping twice a year, or want an emergency light for power outages, I would say no. These use lithium-ion batteries and they need to be used/charged on at least a semiregular basis. If you let the light just sit in your closet, it probably won't be dependable when you need it. These lights were designed for people who depend on them daily.Another positive, the plastic is durable. I charge these lights on hooks off my front porch. I've dropped various lights a half dozen times the 12 feet below onto rocks. They've never broken.Negative:1. Charging Cable: The old models I bought came with a charging cord that plugged into a usb port. I still used this to charge my lights on raining days with my generator. The new models don't come with a cord!2. Not easily repairable: You have to have security torx bit to even get the light open. The battery is attached via a clip style cable. But does d.Light sell replacement batteries that are already spot welded with the connecting cable? Nope. Does d.Light sell a replacement solar panel when the one you have is old, faded, and ineffective? Nope. I bought some batteries of the same specs and tried to solder them in, but the battery life wasn't improved. I didn't buy the cheapest batteries either. This company does have a good idea and a good product. They could make it better by selling the replacement parts for a person to recondition and further extend the life of their light. If we can't fix it ourselves, we don't own it, d.light does. For this product to be sustainable, you have to give us access to the parts to sustain it!

Fantastic!!!
We purchased several years ago. Charged them up and whenever there is a power outage just bring them out and don't have to worry about using up the batteries cuz we can just recharge them by sunlight. And, they run for a real long time with out needing charging!I've since purchased other solar lanterns that may put out a lot more light and are much more expensive with lots of promises but these solar lanterns are still my "go to" solar lanterns cuz they are so convenient and also recharge faster in the sunlight and also recharge in the house. I think I'm go to go this brand from now on.I also leave one with guests so they can use them to read or use to get to the bathroom with out having to walk to the light switch in the dark. They seem to like that.I just love these D.light lanterns. They charge up without much sunlight (even indoors behind windows), last a long time when used, and stay charged between uses. I've gotten other solar lanterns, including some neat ones that put out lots of light when clear plastic base is opened, but they seem to require stronger direct light (some don't charge behind windows), and don't keep their charge as well.I highly recommend purchasing several to keep a house lite as needed during power blackouts. When there is a power outage things can get really dark since there are no surrounding lights, and these lanterns are also really handy for carrying around the house or outside. Oh, we've also used them for camping. You can even put your keys or whatever in the lighting cup.I love this company!

Well made . Very happy with purchase
My sister purchased these five years ago and they are still working beautifully. Looking at possible rising energy prices I decided that with a night time use of these lights in our home they would pay for themselves. I am pleased with the sturdy construction. The lowest light setting fully lasted the promised twelve hours. Charges under even cloudy conditions. Having several of these would make an electricity down situation more bearable.
