White Fur Flying

A tender story full of heart.
Some authors seem to have a gift for telling a story with depth and heart using a surprisingly few words. MacLachlan has proven herself to be one of those kinds of authors. I know when I pick up one of her books that I will feel good when I finish it. And White Fur Flying is no exception.Zoe, a young girl with a heart sensitive to the feelings of others, tells the story about the dogs and the boy and her family. Zoe's family rescues Great Pyrenees dogs. When a young boy moves in next door who doesn't speak, Zoe's family accepts him and shows him kindness and acceptance. When a new rescued dog named Jack comes to stay with Zoe's family, it may be just the thing to help Phillip find his voice. The story is very sweet. The parrot named Lena who repeats what she hears adds a funny note to the story. This would make a nice read-a-loud for younger students who aren't ready for more intense reads. But I think it also make for a good family story, I really enjoyed reading about Zoe's family and how they related to each other.

Quaint Quick Read
I have a Pyrenees mix, so I was drawn to this book by the cover. I was actually hoping for a book written for a younger group (with more adorable art like that on the cover) but the story within is a little gem as well.To keep to a point- It's a story about people and how they can grow in character. There are foster dogs in need of rescue and people who need rescuing on an intimate level as well. For YA or adults, it could be read in one sitting- less than an hour. If you're reading to your young children- it would make a great bedtime story spread out over 2-3 nights, maybe. Nothing scary, just good dreams of fluffy dogs, a funny parrot and the mystery of the new neighbors.

Magical feelings
Adorable read, which shows the wonderful impact that animals have on our lives, if we only let them! Great Pyrenees, in my opinion and experience, are the most beautiful and loving companions and Guides! Blessings to all animals and those who open their hearts and homes to Them!

Another wonderful thoughtful story from MacLachlan
"Don't judge a book by it's cover," is an unnecessary statement as the adorable illustrated cover was what drew me to "White Fur Flying" in the first place. The story is a short, sweet, lightly emotional but full of childhood impact of a scared and lonely boy and the girl and her rescue dogs who bring him out of his shell and back to happiness. Like many of MacLachlan's works, her writing is always insightful and heartfelt, as it is here.
