79 F150 351M. Edelbrock AVS 2 not quite like EFI but VERY close!
I bought this carb to replace a Holley. I've always had Holleys on the 351M in my truck, but decided to try the Edelbrock because of the fuel delivery method on the AVS2. I could not be more pleased with the improvement. The Edelbrock responds immediately to the gas pedal. It does not stumble at all and accelerates smoothly and strong. The overall performance has improved dramatically since installing this carb. The engine is also running much more smoothly and even the exhaust tone is better than with the Holleys. To be fair, my guess is that I was just never able to get the Holleys tuned just right so this is not being critical of Holley carbs. I just lack that skill set to tune those carbs and the Edelbrock seems to be good out of the box. I only had to make slight adjustments to the idle speed screws.Another plus for me is that the Edelbrock is wider but not as deep as the Holleys. I have an electronic distributor that is larger than the OE distributor and with the Holleys it has always been really tight between the carb and the distributor. With the Edelbrock, I have at least an inch or so between them. It makes adjusting timing easier. I also added the Edelbrock 9265 heat insulator gasket which lifts the carb maybe a 1/4 inch which also helps with clearance.I gave it a 3 for installation ease because on the Fords it requires another kit (1483) for the C6 automatic transmission kick down bar to attach to the carb. It took some adjusting and getting a longer adjustment screw for this, but with some tinkering it works perfectly. Nothing really hard about the install, but it does require some fiddling to make everything work smoothly on the Ford.I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.

Works Very Nice
Using on 350 Chevy small block, tuned up with very little effort for idle. Runs great. Have three of them for other Chevy SB AND BB.

Carb Review
Carb arrived on time and in expected condition. Install was straight forward with no mods needed. was extremely close to being perfectly tuned. less than a 1/16 of a turn of the idle screws and it was spot on.

Never worked correctly. Scrap
Put this new carburetor on a new rebuilt 318. We fought with the crab for weeks trying to get it to run right. After multiple fuel pumps, pressure regulators and various attempts to tune it we finally removed it and used an old carb off of something else for a sanity check. The old worn out crab worked perfectly. After fighting with this Edelbrock i passed my chance to return and now stuck with a boat anchor that i dont trust. Wasted time and money. Cant trust new parts anymore.

Old School Power new Venturi Technology
I love this carb. I replace the FiTech EFI and went back to old school power making. Once this new Venturi technology was dialed in my FE 390 ran cooler and smooth. It worth taking the time with metering rod and spring swaps to dial in the fuel mix.
