Easy 5 stars! Ventilated, robust, all rounder
I’m a small content creator and love taking videos. I always had a problem with my phone overheating so this case is the perfect solution for that. The case itself is very robust & feels super strong. The design is very simple and functional. Fits the phone like a glove. The best part is the various attachments that can supplement your photo and videography to give you high quality results. The interchangeable lens mount plates, the cold shoe mounts and provisions to attach their handle makes this versatile all-rounder a hit in my inventory. It is a bit bulky but it makes sense to have that sturdiness when you’re mounting other things on the case.I highly recommend this case.

Less is more. Worth the money.
TLDR: Less is more.Bought it for shooting video, never take it off my iPhone now and has become a daily “case”. The best protective case I’ve had on any 13,14, or 15 - has stopped many drops rocks and dings from ever damaging phone. Literal perfect fit too. Only complaint is the case unlock for removal button is a little to big - can be sensitive and unlock case in your pocket/accidentally press it. This same design “flaw” however is also what makes it awesome- loading your phone slides and clicks just like a well machined magazine reload. So I just put a piece of gaffers tape on it - problem solved. Could be better but I honestly to god believe this protects my phone better than an otterbox or spec or full leather case - and it’s WAY slimmer than the competition.

Well built but bulky camera cage for your phone
I ordered this thing as soon as it dropped, but wasn't entirely sure what to expect. It's certainly a great quality product. Well made. One of the nicer case/cages like this I've had for a phone, for sure. Although, it's main function is a cage, and with that does come some limitations. It can be a bit bulky, which can be a lot on an already large phone. It's easy to pop open though and free your phone for more day to day use.I purchased mine for the lens attachment points (Which I haven't got a chance to take advantage of yet), and for the cage like functions that let me mount a microphone or mount it to a tripod. Both work out great.I noticed in the previous version, the buttons for the camera were a little inset. I wish this version had that too. As it is, they're flush with the edge of the cage. Reason this matters? When I have a tripod plate on the long end, on either side, I have to be careful about it not pressing the buttons. Boo! Not a huge deal thoughAnyway, if you need something like this, I'd totally recommend it. Fits the phone nice, is well constructed, is easy to take on and off. Just overall a great product!

So close to perfect, so few faults… but the faults are huge.
Let’s get the bad out of the way: this is a solid case. It IS compromised slightly, as it uses a rubber gasket to facilitate a quick and easy slide-in system. That introduces a slight bit of play into your setup and, for some cases can be a positive for video via vibration damping, it’s a fault for stills photographers who are relying on a solid, stable system for long exposures and timelapses. For the vast majority, it’s a worthwhile compromise: the cage is solid and massive. Allowing you to quickly transition to a much smaller and lighter everyday case is appreciated. That ability to slide in and out easily is facilitated by the button-locking flip top. This is an awesome concept I’m familiar with via Juggernaut Systems and Element Case. Sadly, this is where SmallRig REALLY screwed up. The button is neither lockable nor recessed and takes just a very light push to unlock the top of the case. Worse, it’s located near the sleep button, making it a huge target for accidental release. At the very least, SmallRig should provide an adhesive frame to stick around the button to recess it for current owners. For a redesign, just recess the button face. Ideally, this instead should have been a sliding lock switch, reducing the chance of an accidental press to zero. These 2 issues are why I cannot rate this case 5 stars, as much as I would. It’s definitely 5 stars for value and build quality, but the design just needs refining. The gasket issue isn’t reflected in my score; the star rating reflects the flip top locking system only as it’s pretty much a “fatal flaw,” saved only by the gasket’s tendency to grip the iPhone just enough to prevent it falling out freely. However, if you give it a little shake with the top open and inverted, it may slide out an uncomfortable amount.Aside from those issues, a couple of less pertinent issues with the design is the speaker and mic holes along the bottom and the depth of the USB port. They should have sealed them off into chambers and ported them to the front for better sound quality. As for the port, an extension that fits flush is already available elsewhere on Amazon; they could have included one.It sounds like I’m kicking it but I’m not. It’s very well made with no sharp edges, thoughtful placement of 1/4”-20 holes, and no immediate flexing issues. Even the hinge is precise enough so the flip top always remains in alignment with no slop. The gasket is in 3 parts and is both adhered and fastened to the frame via molded-in grommets, seen at the cold shoes. Speaking of which, there are 2 and they are ideally located. All buttons are fully covered by the frame gasket. Too bad they’re not capped in aluminum as the rubber buttons are squishy and can be difficult to push. Again, not a big issue as I don’t see many using this cage as their daily driver.Included is an M-mount backplate that’s held in by a single screw and alignment tab. There’s just enough room to fit glass lens protectors, but only the individual type. The single piece ones will not fit due to the backplate’s screw mounting point’s thickness. By adding lens protectors, you further seal the area between the backplate and lens, reducing light leaks when using an accessory lens.As you can see, the SmallRig 1.55x anamorphic lens with 52mm filter adapter fits just fine on my case. It also works on the 5x telephoto. The backplate does not vignette with the ultra-wide camera system but the latest camera system’s image stabilization really starts to expose the limits of M-mount’s small mounting aperture. Thankfully, 17mm threaded and T-mount backplates are available from SmallRig.The rest of the back is skeletonized, surely to reduce weight, materials cost and improve cooling. Recording in 4K60 ProRAW Log turns any device into a thermal generator so the exposed back allows you to fit a peltier and fan for longer takes, mount an external SSD/CF Express card for all-day shooting, or just power it up via MagSafe. As a measure of protection I added a film back protector, much like a screen protector but for the back panel. The new quick release grip system looks fantastic, especially with the ability to mount the grip in one of 3 ways: left, right or as a top handle. They align using the 1/4”-20 holes and use the grooves for clamping. A version including a cold shoe mounted, Bluetooth wireless remote is available for $5 more. I’ve already pre-ordered a set, but cannot speak of them, yet.Solid, well-equipped and massive; despite being one of the first to market, it’s exceptionally well done, especially for the price. It takes my iPhone 15PM from pocket to RSC2 gimbal with anamorphic just a couple of minutes and it’s fantastic. If you shoot a lot of video with lenses, you really need one of these.Speaking of my DJI RSC2: a quick release adapter with 1/4”-20 port I can screw an ARCA or Manfrotto QR plate to would be perfect for fitting this cage to my gimbal. Get on it, SmallRig!(The ring stand is from Torras and the anamorphic lens is from SmallRig; neither are included.)
