great storage drive
HDDs in 2025!? Heck yeah! While not particularly as fast as modern SSDs in random access, the performance is still great for old SATA interface. In linux I disable my swap, but Windows just doesn't work without some swap file, and I'm not going to swap to my main SSD. Thankfully my laptop can boot from mSATA and still has a 2.5" low profile SATA drive slot, where this WD 2T neatly fits. 2T of storage is greatly appreciated in a portable to store all my files on the go where there's no cheap internet access, while also great to direct swap, all logs, and other write-intensive files to the HDD to keep writes low for my old boot SSD. I'm really thankful that WD still keeps making HDDs for these kinds of uses.

Works great, tons of storage.
I got this for my Eufy home base 3 security system and it was really easy to install and offers a ton of storage space. I don't have to worry about going through and regularly deleting stored videos with this amount of storage. its also a pretty affordable option. haven't had any issues with it a year later

DVR hard drive failed
The hard drive in my Silicon Dust HD DVR died so I purchased this as a replacement and it works perfectly.

Drive is new but is NOT retail as advertised & is an OEM drive with warranty from seller & NOT WD.
**NOTE: My pictures were taken a few hours after I had the drive running for a bit. When I first tested the drive, it has 0 power on hours! So, first thing I want to say is this drive is advertised as a retail drive but is in-fact an OEM drive. Normally this isn't an issue except that when you have an OEM drive from Western Digital (WD) the warranty is now on the OEM to uphold instead of WD. The OEM in this case being the seller (Hard Drive Geeks for me). The only physical difference on the drive is the Western Digital label on top is replaced with a white label. I set my rating at 3 stars because it clearly shows a retail drive but is instead a OEM drive. The main issue is that Western Digital WILL NOT warranty this drive because it is an OEM drive. If your drive has an issue you MUST go to the seller. A lot of the times, this is fine but it all depends on if your seller actually backs their warranty. That being said, the seller MUST maintain the same warranty period or longer. Since WD warranties this for 2 years, so must the seller of the OEM drive. The decision should be up to you really on buying this. The warranty of most hard drives don't cover data recovery in the first place (unless you have higher end NAS drives) so I don't expect most people to use the warranty even when there is an issue. I expect most people to contact a data recovery service. So... long story short is that if you are concerned about getting a retail drive with the retail warranty, I would look to the manufactures website for purchasing options, otherwise the OEM version of the drive (for me) was brand new and performed at expected levels for a 5400 RPM spinning disk and will work fine for me needs as a secondary storage drive with an SSD cache on top to speed things up a little. TL;DR: The drive is a genuine new Western Digital drive sold to a third-party seller with a "white label" on top instead of Western Digital branding. The drive should be new (install Crystal Disk Info to check) with 0 hours of power on time. Western Digital does not warranty white label/OEM drives, the warranty is up to the seller to take care of. That being said, the seller is required to maintain the same warranty period or longer, which in my case was the minimum of 2 years. This drive performs as expected and is for all intensive purposes the same physical drive as the retail version, just no WD branding on top.

Works great but may require some extra steps
I bought this for my Eufy Homebase 3. It works great so far. Here are some things to keep in mind. The hard drive comes with multiple partitions. As a result, the Eufy app wasn't able to format the hard drive properly. I had to connect the hard drive to my PC and format it with the Disk Management tool (Win+X > Disk Management). Delete each volume until the entire hard drive shows as Unallocated. Create a new simple volume (NTFS). Allow it to be assigned a drive letter. I named the drive "Eufy". I then installed it in the Homebase (be sure to unplug it first) and then used the app to format it. It wasn't successful on the first try but it worked on the second try.

Works perfectly, and great value for money as I've found with all Crucial products, as I have 2 Crucial SSD's, and another Crucial NvME SSD drive. No noise whatsoever, being an SSD. Just install, partition, and you're good to go
