Beautiful, personal gift
This is a really sweet, inspiring book. I bought it for my mom for her birthday who loves her coffee and loves to take photos of her coffee cup as well as us/her anytime any of us are having coffee, hehe. She also happens to have been born on June 10th which is a significant date for the author, so I thought that was an endearing and meaningful coincidence. My mom LOVES this book! Really nice photos, a mix of quotes and tidbits about taking photos/approaching life. Adorable animal pics and a nice variety while also staying on theme and being cohesive, without being full of too much advice or text, etc. The backstory is very touching and gives the book a well-rounded, bittersweet but ultimately very uplifting tone. The quality is soft and readable and the photos look great even though it's not super high-glossy pages. Which you don't need, the heart and simplicity of this book is lovely. It definitely made me want to have a coffee, take a walk in nature, pet my cats and get a dog!!It inspired me and everyone who looked at it, especially my mom who sat and really enjoyed it for a while then says I should buy one for my aunt, as well! She makes her own books too so I know she will come up with her own version in no time, haha. (Thank you for making this!)

Love this book by Tammy Strobel
Not only are the photographs beautiful but the words are simple and touching. I’m a “cat person” and enjoyed all the kitty pictures and stories.

treat & tribute
Tammy Strobel's latest book is a pleasure to linger over, preferably in the early morning with a cup of good coffee. the photo project chronicled here took place in the mornings and the pictures often include coffee and a dog or cat or two. the photos are amazing, particularly when you know they have been taken with an iPhone camera, captured with a very skilled eye and sometimes tweaked with some good editing. this is a book about the impact of grief and loss and how to climb back from the deep dark corners of that into joy and gratitude again. gratitude and pleasure again in first sips of good coffee and the beauty all around us, i.e. the wonders and magic embedded in each day. a camera facilitates such awareness. the decision to begin wherever we are and with whatever equipment we already own, coupled with the discipline to practice daily is how Tammy climbs back and this small lovely book is a concise and simply presented map she chooses to share with others who may also be seeking better photographs and greater gratitude for the simple joys of life. it is a loving tribute to her much loved and missed Mahlon and her generous sharing of this beautiful guide with all of us surely makes his spirit smile.

My Morning View: An iPhone Photography Project about Gratitude, Grief, and Good Coffee by Tammy Strobel
I have never in my life read a book by Tammy Strobel. Just the title of this book was enough to draw my interest. I am not a professional photographer and I wouldn't say that I plan to be a professional. However, I do own a camera I love and I do have a camera on my phone. I don't own an iPhone but I do find that the phone camera I have does take good pictures. About 4 years ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury and have been lost without being able to drive myself anywhere. The thought of taking my camera or phone camera on a daily walk around to get good photos were a great idea. The pictures taken and shown by Tammy in this book were simply fantastic. Her pet cats and the horses made for a great story. The scenes of the mountains and fields gave me insight into past travels and experiences. I could only hope to take photos half as interesting as her photos. Do yourself a great favor and purchase this book. I know that you will enjoy it as much as I did and you will even enjoy just looking at the photos. Great photos, great book, and a great author.

BEAUTIFUL book!!
I love Tammy Strobel's books. This book helped me see that grieving is a much BIGGER thing than most of us realize unless we are paying attention like Tammy was. I lost my Dad about the same time as she lost hers and this book helped me see that its okay to really grieve our loss. It is extremely painful, but that pain works us through so much. The grieving of my Dad was the worst thing I ever experienced in my life, but it was also the most healing and cleansing thing in my life - and I am over 60 years old. Dad was 91 when he died. Besides that I love the unique photos in this book - the angles, the light, the coffee, the kitties - ALL of it!! I love the photography tips too. This is my new coffee table book for everyone to pick up when they come into my living room. I am buying more for gifts this holiday season :) Thank you Tammy for sharing your heartache so that I could recognize mine and for sharing your beautiful, unique photography!!

Everyday magic
I was so happy when this book arrived in the mail! The photos have such a personal perspective. Even when the author has shot a majestic mountain scene, the coffee cup or the cat in the foreground make the image feel approachable and puts a human perspective into it. Tammy has a distinctive style that draws people in and makes them feel they are enjoying the view, a cup of coffee, and a great conversation with her. She truly captures everyday magic in these sweet photos and text that reminds you to look for beauty in the world around you especially if you are grieving or troubled. I took Tammy's online photography class last summer and it changed not only the way I take photos, but also the way I see the world. I will treasure this book as a reminder to not just look at the world around me, but also to see it and be grateful for beauty where ever it can be found whether in a glorious natural setting or the graceful swish of a cat's tail.

Fun, inspiring, makes you want to start your own iPhone photo
This is a personal, fun book that makers you think about your own photos, and the people you know who matter to you. Tammy has a very engaging, personal style that lets you in, that makes you feel, as you flick the pages and enjoy the coffee cup-and-sunrise or coffee cup-and-horse/cat/dog images, you could be having a morning coffee and catch-up with her. Then, once you're properly, but gently, awake and inspired, she talks you thru the steps you can take to create your own. Easy to read, easy to follow, an inspiring little book.

Improve your photos
Smartphone cameras and tablets have made it so easy for almost anyone to photograph almost anything. But there is a difference between a mere snapshot and a good picture. Tammy's very readable guide offers good advice based in her real-life experiences to those of you wanting to improve your photos. Her philosophy adds a level of value which may appeal to those of your struggling to overcome your inner critic and get started on a project.Peter BryentonCheltenhamEngland[...]
