Product description Design Features: The main feature is the unusually long central aperture. This provides comforting pressure relief over an extended area. The four other vents enable air circulation to reduce overheating and also allow the cushion to easily adapt to any seat curvature. The rectangular multi tube design also helps provide stability together with padded comfort. Apart from pressure relief for medical and travel purposes, the design of the SupaCush gives it other uses. This makes it so much more functional and versatile than the conventional pressure relief designs with a circular hole, commonly known as ‘donuts’, that have been around since Victorian times! It really is the most versatile of cushions. The base material used for the SupaCush is not the cost low quality flock covered PVC film that is used for many air-filled products but rather an extremely strong woven aliphatic polyamide fabric. This has a Polyurethane coating for durability. Our British SupaCush manufacturers supply pressure relief mattresses made of the identical material to the NHS and nursing homes. You might feel that the commonly used memory foam cushions have the advantage over a pneumatic cushion like the SupaCush. However the facts contradict this. Apart from portability there is one main reason to use a pneumatic design rather than one made of memory foam. The extra comfort obtained with air-filled products is because air reacts differently to pressure than a fixed material such as foam. Pressure put on a specific place on a pneumatic cushion will give a counter-pressure on other areas, specifically where the pressure is the lowest. The end result will be that the pressure on each point is equal. This is the so called push-aside effect. It does not occur with non-gaseous ''solid' materials such as memory foam.
