Exceeds Expectations
This item is great for the explorer in your family. The set has a very good variety of items, which I will detail below. After you are done using the set, the items can be put in the included carry bag for transportation/storage.Each of the main items have a good quality feel to them and came individually packaged. The "camping gear" is primarily made with thick plastic, which should be able to take some abuse. No sharp edges on any of the items.Net - Can be screwed together easily by a child, and can be extended with two sections. If you want a shorter net, only one section can be used.Cards - The cards are made with thick cardboard and have an insect on front. On the back, there is info and a spot to write. The cards can be held together with an included "keychain".Periscope - What kid does not like a periscope? I had a lot of fun with it myself, looking over the top of countertops.Bug Storage Container - This is a very cool container. The lid snaps on with the included carry strap. You can then push a button to release the top lid to add bugs. The cool part is the built in magnifying glass. The magnifier extends in and out, and can be moved around in all directions. I have not seen an item like this before, but really like it!Magnifying Glass - Nice big magnifying glass, with oversized plastic handle for kids.Compass/Whistle - Both the compass and whistle work, and work as well as a non kids compass/whistle. Nice way to teach "direction".Binoculars - These are not going to be your high quality purpose built binoculars, but they do work. I could not find a way to zoom, don't think you can. But again they do work, and perfect for kids.Collection Thongs and Tweezers - Kid friendly way to pick up bugs that you may normally stay away from. I would not suggest any dangerous bugs, but makes collecting bugs easy.Flashlight - The flashlight is decently bright for a kids flashlight. You can make the light shine forward like a standard flashlight, set it to an SOS flashing mode, or make the body light up for a glowing lantern look.Tent - Fun item for kids to use as "base camp". It has mesh sides for airflow, even when "closed". Great way to keep mosquitoes and flies away while still being outside. The only thing I didn't like about the tent, is the noise. The fabric seems to be of decent quality, but it makes a crinkle sound - like when you open a bag of chips. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a "quieter" fabric would be better. As you can see, this item comes with a lot to keep an explorer busy for hours. Good value for how many items are included. Recommend!

Kids love tents!
I got this for my kids for the summer but they enjoyed playing inside especially with the tent. Kid quality toys that I don't expect to last forever but they'll lose them before that happens anyways. Overall a decent little set to keep the kiddos busy outdoors.

For your little camper/explorer
My 5 year old played with this set for hours! He goes camping and fishing a lot with family so he had fun playing pretend! This set had a lot of cool details and I can tell there was some effort in designing this set. The flashlight has 3 settings and the periscope actually worked, that was the most fun piece for me. I would totally recommend this!

Promotes outdoor interest in nature
This set is for toddlers. Plastic is ok and most items are usable. The binoculars and the periscope are not. The net is great and the bug box is just ok. I’ve used better. The tent is very small and unstable. Good for toddler play but will not last. That being said, the set is a good introduction to exploring nature.

A very cool product for the outdoorsy, curios child
My niece is naturally curios and is not adverse to bugs. We play, "Explorer" around the park and she has used ALL of the tools that come with this kit. I wouldn't be surprised if she becomes a Entomologists.Everything packs away nice in the included satchel. We run around the forest while she uses the PERISCOPE to spy on locations looking for bugs. She's ran around using the BUTTERFLY net trying to catch flying insects. I've shown her how she can call for me when I am trying to find her location by using the WHISTLE/COMPASS. She can use the TELESCOPE to get a better look up a tree or across a creek.Once she finds a place where there are bugs she can interact with, she can use the MAGNIFYING GLASS to observe the insects and other crawly creatures. She practices catching bugs with care using the BUG TONGS, or the INSECT TRAP and then she places them carefully in the OBSERVATION BOX for closer examination back at her "lab".At one point she wanted to take a nap and she did so in the TENT. At the end of our adventure it was reached dusk so she help navigate us out of the park using the SEARCHLIGHT and COMPASS.I can't say how much enjoyment she got out of playing explorer and we can't wait for our next adventure! So much FUN!

Cute little pop up tent
Okay so the first thing I want to say is that this is just really easy to use. You literally just start to unfold it and it pops open which is nice. Pop up tents are so great. Now the first thing I noticed once it was popped up is that the mesh on the side actually got caught in the zipper for the pouch that holds it so it was torn. So the message does not hold up very well at all. It will get snagged and that will be the end of that. Other than that this has been a great little pop-up tent the kids like to have their own space sometimes and this makes it easy and convenient. When they're feeling especially shy they'll throw a blanket over the top just to give themselves some extra privacy which is fine because the tent does not collapse on them. They do like all the extra accessories that come with them and have been playing with them. There's a lot of fun things to help explore and learn with. Their personal favorite is the telescope. That's a lot of fun for them. Overall it would definitely recommend if you have a little one that just needs a little extra space that's enclosed or just wants to have a little bit of camp out fun. Definitely giftable and definitely worth every penny.
