10 stars out of five. Must, must, must read by everyone.
It's a fascinating book, one of the best I've ever read and the language is incredibly lucid because the author has experienced or realized that which he wishes to expound. I read it in one sitting with a smile on my face. When was the last time I read a book, smiling all along as I read it? I can't think of any. This book is on par with that of Eckhart Tolle's "Power of Now" and I am surprised not many know of it. A must read for everyone, even if you don't understand it, go through it, for when you reach a point in life where everything around you is crumbling, you will think of this book and when you read it again, you will understand everything that the author wishes to convey. The two keys and the four maps is a system that has the ability to destroy itself which is of utmost importance if one has to die as a caterpillar and take birth as a butterfly. The book shows you the path to dissolve yourself or attain unity consciousness and for that everything that you stand for has to melt into nothingness just as the awareness of the sun's rays melt the snow, and the flowing water is turned into vapor where it becomes formless and merges with the universe. The questions that the author asks you to ask yourself are very thought provoking and help you uncover your true self. He puts it very nicely "Myths and folk tales often tell the same story. A knight clad in armor - the ego - rides deep in the dark forest - the unconscious. His task is to vanquish dragons and demons - his guilt, his fears, his conflicts. On setting foot in the castle, he removes his armour and embraces the Sleeping Beauty lying in a glass coffin who instantly wakes up. This scene represents the union with your true nature."To put things in perspective a human goes through four phases - kama (sensual), artha (wealth), dharma (righteousness), and sanyasa (enlightenment). This book will be well understood by those who have crossed the Artha phase. The author is aware of this and says "No matter your position in life, economic stability is an invaluable base if you wish to have enough time to learn about yourself."

A Practical and Approachable Look at Spirituality
In this book of self-help and spiritual exploration, Alain Forget really boils down large and sometimes ethereal concepts into accessible information for anyone who wants to examine their life more fully. I really enjoyed his take on subjects that I have been taught my whole life. You don't realize how blessed you are until you view the world through the eyes of people who do not have the same background as you. I don't say that to sound like a know it all, or in any way that may seem derogatory and I hope my meaning isn't lost in type. Alain's voice as an author and teacher is so desperately needed by all of the lost and hurting hearts in this world. We have been conditioned to believe one of two things (or both); exploring the spiritual side of our being is hippy dippy, or exploring the nature of spirituality is blasphemous. Both are incredibly wrong. To quote Teilhard de Chardin's The Phenomenon of Man, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience." Each one of our journeys is incredibly individual, but at the same time a shared experience. To not truly plumb the depths of what our soul is, is to cheat ourselves of the full measure of our design and purpose. Doing so allows us to live a more meaningful life and connect more deeply with those around us. Alain gently explores this topic in a way that is non-offensive and non-denominational; no simple task to be sure.If you are ready to take stock and truly examine your spirituality and full potential, then Alain Forget's "How to Get Out of This World Alive," is a wonderful guide for you.

Enjoyed and challenged to look deeper within
I am inspired and fascinated with your book, I have reread it now and am putting into practice your wisdom on the self, how to dig deeper to know the inner self. I also have found your references to the writings of those who have come before to be a great source of wisdom and reference to also deepen my understanding. Thanks for such a gem.

A Thoughtful and Incredibly Insightful Guide to "Getting Out Alive"
When "How To Get Out Of This World Alive" first came to my attention I was immediately intrigued by the uniquely compelling premise of the book and once I started reading it I was utterly captivated by Alain Forget's unique philosophy about life and improving it (and yourself) for the better. This is a book that explores who we are, what we do and how we think in a wonderfully insightful way. It thoughtfully takes you on a journey of self-discovery that helps in understanding our own failings, our weaknesses and strengths so that we can learn from them and grow in truly exceptional ways. The author uses a vivid and vibrant writing style that draws you into the complex world of knowing oneself and the psychology behind who we are and what we do. He provides a fantastically in depth guide to improving ourselves and our lives with tools, techniques and advice that walk the line between "psychology, philosophy, mysticism and metaphysics" in a carefully balanced way. It's well written with a casual but informative writing style that is straightforward and incredibly honest in its approach.Overall, this turned out to be an insightful book that expanded my mind, allowing me to embrace living my life to the fullest and truly taking the reins of life in my own hands and making it what I want it to be, rather than what it has unintentionally become. I would definitely recommend the book to those who want to gain valuable insight into changing their lives for the better.

Beware! This book might change your life!
I read many metaphysical books in the last 20 years but within the first 15 minutes of reading this one, I knew I was onto something quite different. Even though the subjects exposed are complex, the language is simple, concise and the thinking is limpid. Furthermore, it is the practical aspect of the method, adapted to our busy modern lives that entirely seduced me. Practice the 4Ds, in the 80/20 rule (too moderate and you're not moderate!) and watch the many aspects of your life fall into place. The way you see the world and most importantly, yourself, will change dramatically and your life therefore will change dramatically. I am forever grateful to Mr Forget for having written this book. He is a visionary, a modern explorer of our consciousness. Thank you!

Extraordinary and Highly Practical
I've read a lot of inspirational books and the inspiration usually lasts a few weeks together with some rather hazy feelings of how to improve. In Alain Forget's book, I found a set of straightforward and practical steps for observing and dismantling aspects of one's psychology which are preventing a fully happy and successful life. It's simple, though not exactly easy, but I'm still working at it six months later and finding my life much less anxious as well as much richer and fuller. It's becoming easier to `sit in silence' daily and I've found particularly extraordinary the range of texts the author recommends which are written by other awakened people from many different countries and backgrounds. Highly recommended.

Psychobabble
First half irritating. Second half good with broad overview of major contributors of spiritual teachings with examples of core themes relevant to the "enlightenment theme" that said I gave my copy to charity....

This book changed my life
Even though I have not read all of it, this book has made a big difference to my life. I don't take life so seriously and if I do I remember the 4 'd's. I felt angry this morning and when I enquired into it it was very clear that I am not my anger. Wow! And then I laughed. I highly recommend this book.
