Anesthesia for Veterinary Technicians

I'm a CVT at a very busy Emergency & Specialty hospital. We specialize in small animals (mostly cats & dogs) with a wide variety of specialty services available. I mainly work in the ECC/ICU departments and therefore, care for all cases that are seen thru the whole hospital system. While I have a good basic knowledge of anesthesia and have attended many CE opportunities to learn more, I found this book and have not put it down. The author is amazing in her knowledge and the ease as to which she shares it. She is passionate about veterinary medicine and it shows through her text. Some of my fellow co-workers, who are VTS in ECC and have been doing critical anesthesia for years, ask to borrow the book at times. It is a great book no matter what your level to help you understand the 'whys' and 'hows' of what the body is doing physiologically when an animal is pre-, under, or post anesthesia.Loving this book and all the folks who took the time to contribute - Thank you!!!

As a vet tech in a specialty hospital, anesthesia is so important since I started working closely with our anesthesia department. This book is just amazing and every vet tech should own it!!

Perfect book if you're pursuing a VTS in anesthesia.

i bought this book for my daughter as she was in college studying to be a vet tech. I never read it so i guess it has in it what it's supposed to have for her learning experience.

Provides an all encompassing source of information for everything from equipment troubleshooting to anatomy/physiology review to protocol considerations based on risk assessment.

This book is definitely not my favorite, in fact, I've been telling people to just skip it all together. Reading it from front to back, the format and flow isn't great and I didn't find it useful as a reference. There are a few "facts" in the book that I found questionable. If you have access to this book and nothing else, then it's fine but there are a lot of great books out there, this is not one of them.

This book is not eady to read and understand, and definitely is not hands on. Would not use as a daily reference! Dissapointed. Why people can't write teaching book for others to learn from rather than trying to sound smart? ??
