Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance [Blu-ray 3D] [3D Blu-ray]

Far better than I thought it would be
Marvel first floated the idea of a Ghost Rider film back in 1992. It took years for the first one to be released in 2007 due to endless delays, changing of production companies, etc. The sequel Spirit of Vengeance came out in 2011. The main reason why Ghost Rider finally got made was comic book fan Nicholas Cage got involved. He was Johnny Blaze the man who sold his soul to the devil and became the Ghost Rider. Both movies were panned by the critics, but Spirit of Vengeance isn’t half bad.The introduction that goes over Blaze’s story using all kinds of graphics was quite good and showed a lot of promise. The story then begins with a mysterious man named Moreau played by Idris Elba asking Blaze to protect a child named Danny played by Fergus Riordan from the devil’s forces and in return Blaze’s curse will be lifted. The problem is the devil’s men led by Ray Carrigan played by Johnny Whitworth get him first. The story then focuses upon Blaze and Danny’s mom Nadya played by Violante Placido trying to get Danny before Carrigan can delivery him to the devil played by Ciaran Hinds. The CGI for the Ghost Rider is pretty good which is a big deal as that provides the drama for the movie. During Blaze’s transformation there’s a little bit of crazy Cage which is what he’s known for and that’s always a bonus. The action is also well done such as when the Rider takes on Carrigan’s henchmen and covers a giant mining crane with his hellfire. This isn’t up there with the Marvel Cinematic Universe films but it’s still entertaining.C

Enjoy yourself, see this.
A+ Of course it has what everyone seems to find odd, "Cage weird." Hello? In those scenes a demon is trying to crawl out of his skin and possess him. This film is fun and well-crafted. And it avoids the sequel problem by making a movie of a different genre - one which I thought still linked up with the first "origin" film very well. Hey, look, an English paper gets and A+ for doing what it sets out to do, not for being a new Shakespeare play. This film did what it set out to do very well. I was entertained. A lot. And I guess, yeah, I'd direct a third installment in the franchise no problem. I'd be happy to, and feel like I had a lot to work with, a lot to live up to, and a lot to do differently from the first two just to stay in step. Bravo. Let Cage be Cage.

Horrible must haves for my collection
Pretty bad movies collected at a low price. I bought this combo to complete my set of movies with guys that wear tights and capes. Fortunately for everyone involved, Ghost Rider doesn’t wear either, but maybe it wouldn’t have hurt here. I saw these when they first came out and I liked them a lot more then. The effects are quite dated, but really, neither the plot or acting are all that good anyhow. Besides nostalgia and my love for the character, this collection doesn’t have many redeeming qualities.

Good but the new skill didn’t cut with me
The skill from the first movie was in my point more real like since it was reported to be a 3D X-ray of Nicolas cage actual skill but ether then that the movie was good story not that on par with the first there was a lot of changes to the other characters like this devil and Roxie not being in it if the actor that played her could have came back it would have been good or if they would have explained that she left him after the rider almost killed or something then that would have saved an there possibly have been a third movie. Now for the rider the concept of Jonny losing control of the rider like it but how did it happen was never explained how just that he lost control an somehow kept it from coming till the events in the movie. Now the idea of the rider being a angel tormented by the devil Satan or whatever they call him in the movie. Saying that the rider was once a good kind angel turned evil like it, but how did the devil catch him in the first place? Lastly the plot was ok but compared to the first movie it wasn’t that good. That’s my review on the movie an how in my opinion they could have went thank you an god bless everyone and god bless the ghost rider an May see him in a good movie one day that gone for six movies

Better than the 1st one.....
Quite a few people have voiced their disapproval over this film.....as well as the first one. Come on, this one wasn't that bad. It was actually interesting. It was shot overseas and it gives it the "old" look and there is plenty of action all around. It has more going for it than the first film. "Cage" isn't that great any longer, but he earned a check and gave us a passable movie. It helped that the other actors in this movie definitely brought it home. CGI, multiple locations and the great people in the background, such as stunt people among others really helped me to buy this film for my collection!!! I had fun watching the fantasy world with "the rider" in it, made it even better when viewed in Blu-ray. So take the risk and at least view it once in your life. Enjoy the "decay" character, who I found to be looking like he was having a blast in this movie.

They tried too hard
I wanted to like this because I loved the first one. The problem with this one is that they seemed to have built the 'Rider' character around Nick Gage, this time, instead of him becoming the character. It felt like NC was channeling his best William Shatner for the role. Watching this felt more like the writers, producers, and actors were only doing it because there was some kind of contractual obligation and not a pure desire to make a good movie.I mean... watch it... see the film for yourself, but go in warned.Last thing... It should have stood out to me right away when the first movie was presented under the typical "Marvel" opening sequence, but this one had a few production houses listed first THEN shows a "Marvel Knights" opening sequence. Gives me the feeling that the MAIN MCU did not even want to touch this one, like it was the red-headed, left-handed, stepchild of the two films.

Proper Ghost rider!
This film gets the essence of the comic book which is what you really want it to ... The movie is more brutal and visual, and you get to see a more violent side to the rider.Neveldine/Taylor did one good thing with "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" by deciding to take it into an even darker, more insane direction than 2007's "Ghost Rider," making it seem even more like a live-action comic book."Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance" was darker, grittier and for a more mature audience. It was full of great action sequences and a schizophrenic performance from Nicolas Cage to keep things interesting. The final result is a good action movie with a solid focus and direction.

Enjoyed the first film? I did! Then DON'T GET THIS!
The first film was ok but within the opening sequence, it completely rewrites how he became the Ghost Rider and remember at the end where he told the devil, no I'm keeping these powers to interfere with your evil plans?! Well in this, he's being searching the globe to find away to get rid of his 'curse'! So in my mind, this is more a reboot (just staring the same actor) rather than a sequel!Plus is cool flaming skull bike has gone....now its just a motorbike, with abit of extra panels on and painted a dull metal grey....oh and at one point he gets badly hurt by a grenade launcher but then later on shrugs off a rocket launcher impact!

Brain damage imminent...
Ok, I've seen the first movie of ghost rider, which I found it to be light yet entertaining , to watch on cinema, or with friends eating pizza and popcorn. It was digestible and fun to watch. But this one, it is a disaster. The whole thing is just some high definition shots bundled together, with loads of special effects (which are pretty cool, but since they are not backed up by the plot, acting e.t.c. you easily get bored). I knew that the second film would propably not surpass or be equal to the first one (I decided to play lucky and ignore the reviews of other viewers= big mistake), but I was surprised at how disastrous (compared to the first movie) this would be.Gathering all of my brain cells that survived watching this movie, I strongly recommend against buying this movie. If you wanna try it, RENT it first. It's not a movie you would want to have in your collection .

If you loved the first film, just stop at that and pretend they never made a sequel !!!!
It's a Blu-ray, it has a nice box and it works in a player. However, such is the appallingness of this film that I'd recommend using the disc as a frisbee or a tea coaster as it is one of the worst films I have ever watched, other than Pacific Rim. You could just not bother buying it and most certainly avoid wasting your time watching this film as it steals time and will laugh gleefully knowing you that you will never get that time back again. Why, oh why, oh why? Nicolas Cage? Why? It's simply a comic with stupid effects, little plot and zero character depth. The first I loved despite mediocre critic reviews but this film is quite simply rotten!

Not bad enough to hold up as an example of a realy bad film.
Hi, the best thing about this film was the 3D/Lenticular slip case. I kept the slip case, it realy is an excellent image. Following on from Ghost Rider I was expecting at the very least a picture of equal merit, I expected too much. What I found was a film that would make Highlander 2 look like a cinematic masterpeice. Maybe that is unfair to Highlander 2. As a one off film if viewed appart from all other Highlander films it could hold it's ground. But I'm sorry Ghost Rider 2 is not a bad enough production to be viewed and held up as a cinematic example to preserve for the future to show where others lost their way.
