Synopsis With the help of reference photos and field sketches, Claudia shows how to create realistic and colourful paintings of seascapes ranging from dramatic whitewater waves breaking along rocky shorelines to more intimate vignettes such as tide pools and tropical coral-sand beaches. Each chapter explores in detail a different component of seascape painting, such as foaming surf and curling waves, sandy beaches with children at play, sea bluffs and rocky reefs, reflective tide pools and grassy marshes, busy harbours and marinas, sailboats scudding across the water, and tropical scenes with palm trees and turquoise seas. The details featured in each chapter are combined into 30 full-sized finished paintings in watercolour, pen and ink as well as acrylics to show how a composition is pulled together. The supplies used to create the paintings are hand-illustrated and are set against sand, driftwood, shells, etc., to evoke a seaside mood.
