Illustrated by Perrine, Stephen, Bornstein, Adam, Hurlock, Heather (ISBN: 9781609619916) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Best diet/exercise book I have - Probably in common with many people, I am not that organised, so a book which tells me what I need to do, how to do it and when I should do it works for me! That is not to say this is inflexible, but it provides a framework to work within and I am seeing results already. Written in an easy-to-read style, it doesn't take itself too seriously, while still getting the message across. The diet instructions and "rules for the ripped" again give general advice and tell you what is good and what isn't in terms of helping your diet and exercise match to give the results it promises Review: Got mostly what I wanted - Now I'm over 40, I'm interested in maintaining and even improving my health. I'd read Men's Health magazine in the past and found its advice useful, so I invested in this book. It makes some amusingly outrageous claims on the dust jacket, such as its byline: "27 days to sculpted abs, maximum muscle, & superhuman sex!" The text inside, full of hyperbole, pop culture references and too many exclamation marks, is overly simplistic, as if its average target reader were a bit of a moron. Unfortunately, it has been written for an American market, and not living in America, I can't really use the food brand recommendations. And although it continuously cites scientific papers to back up its claims, there is no list of references provided; as somebody who is scientifically trained, I would have liked to check some of the papers for myself. However, there are several good things I can say about this book. The simple writing means it cuts right to the chase and it's not hard to understand when the authors pull out the medical jargon to explain why you should exercise or eat in some particular way. They give clear instructions on exercise routines that are easy to do in your own living room with a minimum of space and equipment. They provide easy-to-follow, very healthy recipes to cook yourself at home that don't take too long to prepare. Finally, they are not trying to sell anything, but really just encourage you to make your own informed choices. So despite its shortcomings, I mostly got what I wanted from this book. If you can ignore the jokey writing style and focus on the facts, I recommend it.

This book has some very useful information in it about building muscle, losing weight and staying healthy. I know some people find the Americanisms littered throughout the book a tad irritating. However, the plus side is it is very easy to read and, if you look past the jokes, contains sound information. I particularly liked the 'top tips' scattered about the book, for example apparently ground ginger aids muscle recovery after a workout. It is all backed up by scientific research and the latest info available. Downsides: not many recipes. Also, the book provides a list of takeaway food that isn't too bad for you, unfortunately these are generally all US takeaways, as it is an American book that is not so much a criticism as an observation. Shame though because that information would be useful for those in England as well. I recommend downloading the Shredded Chef book, if what you are looking for is recipes. As ever with Amazon, delivery was prompt and book was in good condition (second hand).

Not as many excercises as expected
A good book with lots of useful tips. I expected a few more excercises to be included together with a few more receipes but still helped my husband lose the pounds and tone up. Would recommend for beginners.

Not much to talk about this book. It is perfect, lots of details and good stuff. You will be amazed of info you have never known before. I was surprised I read through one section of the book; "Eating yogurt 3 times a day, you can lose up to 81% of body fat" that is AMAZING!! This book is good for beginner - expert. I lost fat (in a healthy way). It is a book for study and use it in real life. It also pack with exercise and workouts method. Pro: Not a diet plan or guide but to inform with the best ingredients and facts that are useful. Also comes with the exercise and workout section. Definitely a complete book for everyone Cons: None

I find this book to be very informative. It does not over complicate things, gives me a plan that is reasonable and that I can follow. Also, the most important thing, it's realistic. Liked it so much I also purchased the kindle version to have as a quick reference. I've been working out and trying multiple diets trying to get the last bit of fat off my abs, this book is it for me.

The product i.e the book is great. delivery is great. but the copy received was not in good condition, it appears to be from old stock, with some dust and termite like dust was inside the cover. Reagarding the book: 1. This is not suitable for India. 2. This is not for vegetarians. 3. Most os the recipes and ready to eat food is purely meant for either Europe or the USA. I dont think these are available in India. Or they must be very expensive as we have to import them. 4. It is a strict NO NO for vegetarians. It is extremely difficult for the vegetarians. At the most one may get 2 or 3 vegetarian recipes. One can not replace the recipes with vegetarian items, as almost all the items contain pork, ham, fish etc for breakfast, lunch or dinner. it is extremely difficult to replace them and get proper nutrition and calorie count. 5. Workout is good, though not the best. This is like a revision for those who are already into health and body building. This is like collection of various tips from internet, by this time most are aware of almot all the tips available in this book.

Simply put this book provides the info you need to make major changes to your body. I dropped 30 pounds (205lb to 175lb) in 3 months. It was easy for me once I learned how to eat PROPERLY. There is no going hungry with the strategy found in this book. I ate plenty of a wide range of good quality food and the results are plain to see. Along with eating correctly, the fitness/exercises are well explained and have plenty of alternatives so you don't get bored. The only thing I didn't care for was how the author continuously "sells" the book and plan through out the book. I ALREADY BOUGHT THE BOOK!!! I don't need to be sold on it anymore! :) All in all, this is a fantastic and enlightening book for anyone who may not know where to start when it comes to losing some weight and improving their fitness.
