Darbuka Hand Engraved Aluminum Body Doumbek - EA-E107-RED

Price was right, too right, I should know better. If you are new the this genre of drumming, save a few more dollars and buy a better drum. It’s very light in comparison to other drums the same size, because they used less aluminum, the walls of body are thinner. The finish is skimpy too, they should have done another coat or two. The sound is OK. I have not taken the head ring off to see if there are pits or small deficits in aluminum, not a good sign if you see that. I would have been really disappointed if I had paid more money than $109. And I have seen this drum for sale for $100 but I prefer to shop Amazon. I have been playing for over 8 yrs, done 6 yrs of instruction, a fair number of live gigs for dancers. More than anything I want to put my hands on one to check the quality. I will play it, probably tune it to a different tone than the other doumbeks I play, but it won’t be my favorite or ‘go to’ drum. I own 5 doumbeks, 2 clay, a GEF, Meinl copper, and this. The bag, wrench and extra head are basics like you get with any doumbek. Nothing special about this drum at all.

My partner is very happy. This is not a full sized darbuka, but it makes a good sound. The etching and color are nice, although I noticed some scratches at the base
