Excellent !! Excellent !! Excellent !!
My 10-year-old corded trimmer finally died, and I was looking for a replacement. I searched for a week and it looked like my only options were ones with and gas engine or batter power. The "Name Brand" ones at the big box store were $600 to $800 with the most expensive one being the battery GND ones. I was searching AZ for a cheaper alternative and in the middle of the battery powered ones was this corded one by SunJoe for about $90 with tax. I already own a few Sun Joe products and they have worked perfectly for many years. As you see from the (pic 3) this trimmer requires a 14 gauge drop cord to prevent the motor from overheating and losing power. My 8 year old Sun Joe Scarifier/Dethatcher requires this size cord, so I already had one. Since this is going to be a dedicated pole trimmer (pic 2) I removed the hand safety switch (one screw on each side) so it is narrower and doesn't block the view of the cut area. The trimmer is fairly balanced when not extended but when it is, it is top heavy. As you see in (pic1) I strapped a 1 1/2 lb leg weight through the handle and it off set the weight of the cutter head and made the shoulder strap the pivot point instead of the arms and wrists. With the added weight it is still lighter than the ones at the big box stores. This trimmer cuts clean and fast (keep the blades oiled) and it didn't wear me out (I am 72 years old). Because of the articulating head that my old one didn't have, I didn't have to climb a ladder to level the top of my 12 foot Green Giant hedge. Highly recommended!

It works great but top heavy
This works very well, I have some tall trees and it really made a difference for me. Previously I had to get on a ladder to try to heads some of the bushes and trees, but this really made the job much easier. It is rather top-heavy, so if you don't have upper body strength, you may find this difficult to utilize. I do believe my parents who are in there late 60s and early 70s, would have a hard time using the hedger when attached to the pole. It also works great as a regular handheld hedger, but it is a tool that needs to be plugged in, there is not a battery with this particular machine. I think there's always pros and cons to that, but for what I need an extension cord worked just fine, if you're going somewhere with this where electricity is not readily available, this will not help you.Overall did what is expected, again the only issue is some of the weight when using it on a pole, but overall very satisfied with the machine.

Works Good - cuts through small branches
This is the 4th electric hedge trimmer Ive purchased. They ALL have broken so far... Im anticipating tjis one to be no different. That being said however theyve all paid for themselves after every use (paid for themselves multiple times) so in the long run I cant really complain.OK THIS HEDGE TRIMMERHave used twice so far and it works great. Cuts through branches with ease, smaller limbs as well but you need to not force it just hold there a little less than its own weight and it will "pop" through. For what it is (a $75 tool inc tax) its pretty amazing. It telescopes about and additional 1-2 feet so reaching farther away is doable. The head also rotates so cutting different angles is easy as well.Overall it is an excellent tool I highly recommend it.CONS:VERY TOP HEAVY- THE MORE YOU EXTEND IT HE ALMOST EXPONENTIALLY HEAVIER IT GETS.- per past experience (fyi/tbh) not sure how long it will last before breaking but as mentioned earlier it has already paid for itself.WORTH MENTIONINGthis might sound OBVIOUS but meant to help... and I can not overstate this enough: YOU NEED TO ALWAYS BE AWARE OF EXACTLY WHERE YOUR EXTENSION CORD IS AT ALL TIMES OR ELSE YOU WILL CUT IT RIGHT IN HALF. So don't get ahead of yourself take the extra tome when repositioning and make sure your cord is out of the way.OVERALLHIGHLY RECOMMENDED TOOL !FYI not I did not opt for the extended warranty because its starts the day after the manufacturer warranty... bad idea? again in my case this tool has already paid for itself.I hope this review helps you decide. Good luck and stay safe.***recommended PPEPOLYCARBONATE GLASSESEAR PROTECTION

Great value and very effective
As others have mentioned, it's heavy. But would anything that's built to last not be? This is my 3rd Sun Joe product as I bought a blower and pressure washer previously. All three are well built and work well. The value is what appealed to me most. I won't be using but the blower regularly and expect all three will lastThe trimmer I used last week. The strap helps, but you still need to take breaks when trimming overhead. I paid a gardener $50 to trim two very large/tall hedges and this cost me a little over half that and next time it will pay for itself. It works great, clean cuts and no effort going through hedge. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a pole trimmer
