Good gaskets, but are they needed?
The gaskets are a perfect fit for the Briggs and Stratton 26hp on my John Deere la175. But upon doing a little research. I went with red gasket maker instead. These motors are coming out of the factory with liquid type gasket maker instead of paper. I will be monitoring for leaks, but so far I've mowed for several hours and all is well with the gasket maker instead of paper.

Good replacement
This gasket worked perfectly for my craftsman mower. I adjusted the valve clearance and changed the gasket just to be sure I wouldn't have any leaks. This gasket is the same quality as the old one I removed. The old one was still in great shape and I probably could have reused it. I had the new one anyway so I replaced the old one and I have no leaks. The old one was still in good shape after 10 years, so I would assume this gasket will last for a long time.

Made in USA and works well. Gasket is thicker and seals better than the cheaper made in China brands that I tried before. Highly recommended. Conforms to valve cover very well and doesn't leak or seep oil like the made in China gaskets.

This is a thin "paper" gasket. My model is supposed to use a gasket liquid. but the cover is an aluminium stamping and,despite spending time flatting, still leaked from bottom. Perhaps it warps slightly when torqued up. Plenty of length in the retaining bolts so fitting not a problem. I hope this works as the drips fall directly on the exhaust!
