All in an all, a great basic shaver. This is a good shaver, but has an amazing cleaning station. The previous cleaning stations leaked and just stopped working. This cleaning station is much better. This cleaning station does not offer a separate drying without cleaning cycle (More expensive Panasonic Cleaning stations do), It has basically two modes... Clean and Dry... or Charge. It automatically switches to the charge mode after the cleaning cycle. This model uses air and Heat to dry the Razor (No fan like previous models or the more expensive version) so it does take about 2 hours to dry after the cleaning cycle has finished. This is VERY quite during cleaning too. Enough about that but it was a sore subject with previous razors.The razor cuts very close, and the trimmer is great. the attachment is adjustable so this Razor works as an adjustable trimmer. The charging is quick and this works wet too (You can shave while taking a shower). Another thing to consider is that they recommend changing the shaver screen every year so that may help you to decide verses other razors. I think it's a great value for the money.

I bought this to replace a high-end Phillips triple head shaver which was several years old since Phillips no longer makes the original shave heads for it.The shave on the Panasonic is close and comfortable. My facial hair doesn’t grow very quickly but it is thick so the shave has to be close to make a difference on me.I especially like the trimmer with adjustable height settings. The cleaning/charging base means I spend virtually no time on maintenance daily and a couple of minutes each month when swapping in new cleaning solution. The included travel cap prevents the power button from getting pressed while in luggage.I have been using this almost exactly 6 months. Overall, I am very pleased with the shaver and the low price point makes it even better. I was pleasantly surprised after using high end models from Braun and Phillips.

I replaced my Braun electric razor with this Panasonic model more than a year ago. It provides a close shave. Adjustable trimmer head attachment for mustache and beard trimming is great for one device for close shaving and trimming. In the past I had to have a shaver and separate trimmer. Holds charge well and charges promptly in its station which also serves as a cleaning base.I had been a long term Braun shaver owner, have owned two of their models previously. The last model of Braun I purchased was very disappointing, poor quality and I didn't want to invest more money in their newer line up. I found Braun's model line of razors confusing and very expensive for what I was looking for. Panasonic ES-RT97-S delivers. My only criticism (and 4 star rating) is due to the ridiculous price of the cleaning fluid provided by Panasonic. $14 for several ounces of liquid soap? Really? Talk about padding your margin.

Works great. Shaves smoothly. Quieter than my last shaver. Self cleaning is a plus. Only issue I have is with the trimmer. Why would they not have a 3mm setting, which I use. It goes from 2.5mm straight to 4mm. And yes, that .5mm makes a difference. So, I actually give them 4.5 stars, but it doesn't do half stars.

For me panasonic shavers offer the closest shave around . This shaver is replacing an older version that the battery died on. The shaver shaves very close. The last version I had would charge whenever you returned the shaver to the stand. I like this version because you can store it without charging. You choose when to charge it by pushing the top down. Also does a good job of cleaning the razor. The trimmer attachment on mine does not attach well and just falls off. Over all a great item.
