Rocking songs for private parties.
I always thought Formby's songs would be very useful for any teenager trying to form a band (he influenced Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon). They're not PC, they are usually funny, and they are easy to play (mostly aggressive rhythmic strumming). This even isn't all his hits! The sound quality is higher and better than what other Fromby's cds deliver. An undiscovered yet influential pre-rock master.

I'll give you the good news first, which is the quality of the recordings used here is excellent. That's it. The bad news (and it is a major flaw) is that the mastering is at the wrong speed.George sounds like he has been sampling Helium. When so many CDs have already been released over the years, most containing the same songs, there is no excuse for this error and having been a Formby connoisseur for over 40 years, I am very discerning when it comes to purchasing additional CDs. The only reason I bought this one was in the hope of obtaining a descent recording of Banjo Boy.My advice to anyone tempted to purchase it is - DON'T. Buy one of the myriad of other CDs out there which are plentiful.
