Have used annular cutters for years, there are many reasons I prefer this type of cutter over other hole making methods. Faster, more accurate (both in hole size and hole location), and much less downforce needed than using twist drills. Many times faster than boring a hole. If you are lucky and your needed hole size matches up with an available annular cutter, get one, your job just got much easier.Our smallest annular cutter we had before acquiring this set was 1-1/4". They are kind of pricey, so we were limited to sizes we were most likely to use. Then this set became available. Here is a set of 10 cutters, priced in the twist drill price range. Could not pass up this bargain.Using a 3/4" collet in a Bridgeport mill, we tested three of these cutters. All three performed great. Quick, no fuss, no sweat hole making. Carbide tips let these drill about any metal. An additional thing I noticed was how well the chips cleared with these cutters. Our older, high speed steel annular cutters need to be raised to clear the chips ever so often, these didn't require that. Chips were not long and stringy, were actually chips. Neither the tool or the piece of mild steel we were making holes in got very hot.The pilot pins slide up and down within the cutters, allowing a hole to be located over a punch mark. Case is even pretty decent.Highly recommend this set.

Nice set of annular cutters. The carbide tips on these cutters should last much longer than cheaper HSS cutters. If you use cutting oil and take care of them they should have a decent service life. Probably not as great as a really high-end annular but at the same time you're getting a whole set of cutters here for the costs of one single high-end cutter. These drill really nice clean holes with a mag drill and are much faster and higher quality holes than using large diameter drill bits. Anyone who frequently does metal fabrication work should absolutely consider an annular cutter set like this one to improve their workflow.

Some of the best bits we've had in the warehouse for customizing hole locations in our 18"x18" stamped steel plates. These plates already come with 3 holes that are standard, but we'll have clients with special requests for an extra hole or two or three, usually near corners.This customization isn't something we do daily (only when requested by a customer, which may be 3x in a week, and not again for a month...) but we found that these bits require much less downward pressure while cutting, and makes a smooth cut even faster than we're used to seeing. Several custom holes have been made and they're still holding up nicely.

These hole saws come with a centering pin for staying put, and while I would have preferred that the centering piece was a drill bit like most hole saws this works ok too, just requires a hole be drilled first. Other then that these cut through mild steel pretty easily. I haven't used these for anything else but I'm sure they will work fine assuming you don't try to use them to cut something crazy.

So far, this set has been a great value.The carrying case is nice and sturdy. It's well made, and I've not felt like the latches or hinge part will break.The bits are pretty standard, in a good way. I've not noticed any poorly made or cut pieces.
