Good story
Good story from this author. While it seems a little far-fetched, nevertheless, I enjoyed the read. I'll be sure to read more from this gentleman.

5'7" and one hell of a guy
This was one great read.Warrent Officer Dave Riley and Chicaco PD Lt. Donna Giannini land in one hell of a mess.Riley and his pal Hammer are trying to protect Lisa Cobb. Cobb is being chased by the mob out of Chicago and another group. This group is headed by Master. He and his men are highly trained. They kill and then remove the bodies and any evidence.Unknown to Riley this group has highjacked the Witness Protection Program. They are payed to kill those in the WPP and Master works under contract for this group.Donna Giannini, a Lt. in the Chicago PD, falls into it when there are killings in Chicago. Both the mob and Master are looking for Lisa Cobb. The mob wants the money her hubby stole and Master just wants to kill her per his contract.Riley doesn't have a clue whats going on but he and Hammer are in for a run in trying to protect Lisa.Giannini and Riley know each other from a case in Chicago a year ago. Riley, Giannini and Hammer are in for a fight in protecting Lisa.Just one great read. We have the mob. A group in Govt who are making money off murder. Master. A guy with a well trained bunch of killers and one traitor in the mix.Just a great read. Five Stars.

Cut-Out: CW2 Dave Riley in another Fine Pickle.
SF Warrant Officer Dave Riley, one of the lead protagonists in earlier Books by this same author (SYNBAT and Dragon Sim-13), agrees to do a favor for a Chicago Police lieutenant that saved his life on a past clandestine mission in Chicago. The Mob, a rogue element of the WitSec program and some shadowy contractor kill team members mix it up hand to hand, and at CQB distances while trying to recover a couple million of the mob's money stolen by a realtor, who is inserted into the WITSEC program. Dave needs his wits, his operational savvy, and just a little luck, to escape the multiple waves of shooters chasing him.

Once a Green Beret...
This book is a departure for the series in that Riley is not working a Special Forces mission. Instead he is playing bodyguard to Lisa Cobb, wife of a mob money launderer who testified against his bosses.I'm not saying that this is a bad thing. In fact I rather liked it. However, if Riley is no longer in Special Forces, shouldn't the series now be called "Ex Green Berets?"I was happy to see the return of Detective Donna Giannini. She and Riley work well together, but how can they ever top their first "date" when they flooded the Chicago sewer system and saved the world?

A Good Action Read
Dave Riley is one of my favorite characters. To best understand this story, the reader should read the story immediately before this one too as the main characters carry over including Col. Pike. This story involves government corruption and unsanctioned black ops. (The government corruption kind of echoes real life.) While the plot is not overly complicated, the action scenes are pretty good and plentiful. The main bad guy could have been more rounded with some additional information about his background and how he got into unsanctioned black ops. But all in all this is a good read to lose oneself in for a few hours and that is one of the things I want in an action novel.

Not Vince Flynn but a great read.
This was a one day read for me.Very good story, good characters, and a plot that kept you wondering.I was a little disappointed in the lead up to the end, but all stories don't have a totally happy ending.Oops. did I spoil it? No, plenty of things to like.I couldn't quite date this story because it seemed modern, yet the cops had revolvers, rare today. At least they didn't flip the safeties off, like many poorly researched novels would.I'll read more from this author. I may try to read in order, because I started into the middle of the series, andalthough the story stood on it's own, there were references to things past.It was a bit an-noying to find a "-" rand-omly placed in words for no ap-parent reason. I guess theed-itor (or lack of) got paid by the hy-phen.

Five Stars For a Lean Mean Dead Ahead Guy Story
Let's face it, these are guy "romance novels". In times of personal stress, lawsuits by ex-wives, psychic attacks by a world out to bash middle aged men, these books are necessary for sanity. So they must be streamlined, easy to read, have great action scenes, involve one man heroically against the odds, saving the world. It is fascinating to see in these books a reflection of our current societal myths. No longer do we see the one lone man, aided by a loving woman, saving the world with the help of America! Now it's America itself that needs saving, by one man and a woman who is his equal in cunning and violence. So, when I pick up a book, I want to be lost for a few hours, immersed in another world. This book does not disappoint, it is excellent for what it is.Melvin Morse

Not really Green Beret
This is a fair book about a police story. Except for the first and last scene it is all police. The main character is so messed up that even the sex portions were more about porn than love or even sex. These sex descriptions were unnecessary and way over the top in discription. The investigation was slow, convoluted and had little direction. This is one book in the series I would not recomend as it was just overall slow and ploding. It is really the story of a very tired, angry, confused young man with little idea of who he is, what he wants and where he is going or wants to go. In the end it is more like it is all a set up for the main caracter to show up in the next book about a strange secret black ops story about a very dark and special shadow group.

what can I say ?
If you buy a book that eludes to be a story involving a special forces character then that's what it'll be. The story line is fast paced with a couple of good twists and turns. Great for a holiday read as the plot involves the mafia, the US Government and of course good ol' Fort Bragg. But not a top read if you're into the tactics and secrets of SF warfare as there are none.
